My dr.gave me 2 mg tizanidine to take at night for rls It does absolutely nothing for me I did alot better on ropinirole As a matter of fact I can't even go to sleep on this drug
I see a pain doctor for my back. He prescribes me 4mg dilaudid every 8-12 hours as needed. About 4 months ago I was struck with severe RLS in my legs AND arms. Luckily, the dilaudid works absolutely great for my RLS. But, since I can't be on dilaudid for the rest of my life my doctor prescribed 4mg tizanidine before bedtime to try for the RLS. I take my first dose tonight. I will report my findings after I try it for a few weeks.
I was taking Tizanidine for sleep. At first I thought it was helping with restless legs, but realized it was just because I feel asleep faster. As I tried taking it longer, I realized that I actually had worse restless legs, plus the Tizanidine was making me nauseated, and I was waking up with a headache. Tizanidine is a muscle relaxer, and it is sedating so if you go to sleep faster you might not notice the restless legs, but RLS is a neurological disorder, so tizanidine doesn't really address the real issue.
Hi Jennifer. I don't know if it is prescribed for RLS but I take this for neck spasms and I also have taken it when the RLS get's bad and nothing else I take for it is working- I have 10mg tabs and I just take a half . Be careful when you take it though until you find out if it is going to make you sleepy. It does me. But I have other meds in my system has well. Good luck I hope this works for you. I know how miserable RLS is. God bless
Thank you and yes it is so very miserable. The most uncomfortable feeling. I have not taken the Tizanidine yet. I am leery of the side effects. I do take Gabepentin. It does knock me out but Istill wanted to weigh my options. Thank You again for your input. It is greatly appreciated.
GOOD MORNING JENNIFER, HAVE YOU HAD A BAD NIGHT?
IT IS A TERRIBLE PAIN TO HAVE AND NO ONE CAN UNDERSTAND UNLESS THEY HAVE HAD IT.
I CAN'T GIVE ANY ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.
WHAT HELPED ME IS " SIFROL "
I was only going to take it when I need it, but learnt fast 1 at night is a must.
Previously I think I would have this pain for 30 years.
If you would like to have me as a friend please add me. Have a great day
