Teva is much better for me
Wish they’d just bring back the original Teva pill!!!
ALL FDA regulated generics sold in the US must have exactly the same amount of active ingredient and been proven to be equally effective. The only difference may be in the inert ingredients (fillers like cellulose, starch, and coloring agents) so there should be no appreciable difference in the efficacy of different manufacturer's products.
Oh no buddy, there is a huge difference in accord pharmacy and Teva. Huge difference. I was off Teva for a year and 6 months and just got it back and I haven’t been taking Clonazepam the past year after being on Teva for 10 years, even my pharmacist said generics have differently potencies, take a Teva 1mg Clonazepam and accord clonazepam to a chemist and you’ll see.
Provide scientific studies and factual information from reputable sources. Why do you think the FDA exists?
PS, I wouldn't take your recommendation anyway as I wouldn't touch a benzodiazepine with a ten foot pole! Do some research.
"This standard applies to all generic medicines. All generic medications are the same in dosage, safety, effectiveness, strength, stability, and quality, as well as in the way it is taken and the way it should be used."
Perhaps the inert ingredients in your product are inhibiting absorption rates... if this minor difference is affecting your perceived efficacy you may be habituated.
Like I said take those two to a chemist, and since you havent experienced any of the effects of benzos, then you are automatically canceled out of this discussion. Go read some more online research, let me know where big foot is hiding.
Ps the government is going to do what’s cheaper for them
Wildcatvet. I know what they say but when you suffer from panic and you take these pills, there is a big difference! I was given a different brand and didn't have a concern but when I took the first pill I was in a total panic 3 hours later. I came online and looked up what I had been given and it was a different maker. I have since contacted Teva and found out that they are no longer making Klonopin BUT activis is now owned by them and using the same formula minus a binding agent and a different color. I got a new refill for the activist brand and I am so much better.
Your comments just verify what I've already said. As for BigFoot, I believe it inhabits the op-eds on social media that you rely on for "information".
Cool man use my words as your own. All generics are not the same, by no means. You contradicted yourself. Now leave this discussion.
Psychopharmacology, pharmacology, and professional experience with benzodiazepine addicts. As a premier member, those are better qualifications than subjective opinions to utilize my right to contribute to any discussion I wish on this forum.
Absolutely not true. Have you ever had Klonopin wafers? There is a universe of difference between them and generics.
Yes, inert ingredients, fillers, and dispersants.
Are you kidding??? Yea the FDA does a wonderful job making sure what's in our food is top notch, let alone medication. They don't give a crap about the effects obviously, that thousands of people are online complaining about the same symptoms. Is it all in our head lol? I mean really? I can stay for one that I've taken the Mylan brand for 11 years and it was very effective. Now I've tried 2 other generics Accord and Actavis, along with the brand name Klonopin. The anxiety is terrible and hasn't gone away. As a matter of fact, I keep getting a high pitch ringing in my ears with severe headaches the minute I went on the Actavis and even the brand name. Been on the brand name for over 2 weeks now with no results. Its like a placebo effect. Mylan no longer makes the pills, so I don't know where else to turn. Do I go on Ativan, Klonopin Wafers, or Valium? Any suggestions for anyone going through this would be great.
And I'm not trying to down what you're saying WilcatVet, but the truth of the matter is, I'm truly experiencing this first hand. I wish to God I wasn't, along with all the other sufferers. I don't want to feel medicated. I want to feel normal and feel like I'm living life again. And I felt normal taking my Cymbalta 60mg and Clonazepam 1 mg (MYLAN). I do think some people are very sensitive to the changes from the different chemicals they're using in each medication. The FDA needs not allow a 20% variation in the effectiveness in meds, like they currently do. Also has anyone changed manufacturers for a couple of months and found them to work after a certain time?
Hey GAD_and_PD are the wafers better than the oral tablets?
Perhaps you should consider kicking the habit and initiate treatment with more appropriate medication?
The FDA allows for up to a 24% dosage differential on all drugs. This means a drug could be up to 24% more or less potent and still pass. The inactive ingredients can affect distribution of the drugs due to solubility. So wildcats blind insistence that they are all equal is just trolling, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, just ignore him.
The binders is what makes the difference in these pills. While it may have similar amounts of the active ingrediant clonazepam its the binders that control the release of the drug. Teva had povidone in it which made the pill release slower sorta like a extended release. The other brands do not have this so when you take the other brands it dumps the entire amount of clon in your system at once and makes you tired for a few hours then the anxiety comes back. You make say well its still the same amount whats the difference and I compare that to drinking 5 shots of vodka all at once vs 5 shots over a 24 hour period. See the difference.
Thank you for clearing up some misconceptions.
Wrong. Since 1984 generic distributors are allowed to have up to a 20% dosage differential on all drugs except the ones that need to be in certain levels like Lithium. 20% might not be noticed on a drug like Lipitor but for psychiatric meds most people will notice this difference profoundly after being on the same dose for years.
Lol. So you are invalidating everyone’s experiences here? Pretty arrogant don’t ya think? Teva worked! actavis doesn’t. At least for me, it doesn’t do much for me but I do have quick withdrawals if I miss my nightly dose (.5mg).
I used to think that BS, too! Don't trust your doctor, don't totally trust your pharmacist. You yourself knows your own body. Trust how you feel with what you've taken.
Self-medicating. Why are drugs regulated (and prescription only) in the first place? To try and prevent things like the opioid and benzodiazepine crises... which have been notoriously unsuccessful because of people self-medicating.
Dude are you still on here trying to sound smart? Lol get a life and maybe a PhD! Douche
No comment from a female with a doctorate.
Right I would think a lady would have the smarts to know the difference between medications, generics ect. Take a accord klonopin and then a teva then come talk to me. If you don’t then your statements are irelevent, huge difference between personal experience and reading online or a book. Good luck
I wouldn't take a benzo if my life depended on it... because I do have the "smarts" and education to know the facts.
Feel free to post your personal experiences, but judgmental opinions have no place in these forums and neither do attacks on other people who comment. Your base negativity and apparent paranoia are non-productive here.
The fact that this person who ends all of their ignorant comments with WC and repeatedly says they would never take a benzo probably needs one.. No one with Anxiety and Panic Disorder actually wants to take these meds.. I’ve been taking .5 mg of klonopin daily for a couple of years.. Before this I had quit my job, couldn’t drive and completely lost my ability to leave the house. just bringing my dog out to use the bathroom caused extreme panic.. Without the klonopin I wouldn’t have my life back.. I’m a teacher, living a wonderful life with my husband and doing it because of this medication. I know it’s not the best thing to be on but would you say no to chemo and radiation if you had cancer? I see a therapist weekly as well which is why I’m able to stay on the low dose I’m on.. I’m still fighting as are many other people, and you don’t know how strong a person living with a mental disorder is..
Sorry you think I'm ignorant. Do your research on the long term side effects of benzodiazepines... if you're willing to take that risk you're welcome to them. I've seen the actual effects in actual patients and they were primarily people who adhered to their dosages and felt they couldn't live without these drugs. Until it was too late.
Enjoy your future life.
""""WC""""
To WC; I’m curious, what is your opinion of Ativan. I was prescribed it back in the 80’s for anxiety. Didn’t know it was habit forming. Took it for a year or two then was gently weaned off of it. Is there any difference from weaning off of a Benzo than Ativan. Which helped me immensely. Currently taking clonazepam for chronic insomnia. I look forward to your reply. SR
this "WildcatVet" must be a troll, lol. why slam all of our experiences and invalidate them all, then to tell us he/she would "never touch a benzo in my life". well then, GET OFF THIS WEB-BLOG and quit invalidating the REAL and awful experiences people are having. You are NOT helping. Actavis does not work for ME. Period. Teva old brand DID work for me, period. You are a complete narcissist if you can't even validate another person's experience as true for them.
Sorry you think so, but I'm an "ELITE" member of this community.
I’m glad you’re an “Elite” member.. I’m just not sure why you would come to scare people who are already anxious with the long term effects of this medication.. Honestly if I didn’t have the .5 mg I take each day I’m not sure I would be alive today.. It’s unfortunate but if you don’t live with a mental illness you just don’t understand..
Education may be scary to some... but it's better than ignorance.
Wrong!
FDA allows generics to have up to 30% more or 30% less than the brand name active ingredient.
Each generic company makes their own, so generics differ from one another in active ingredients as well.
That’s the FDA for you.
Actually the FDA allows a 20% variance on either side for generics... low and high for Area under curve (how long it stays in our body and how high) and the C MAX... ( how high it gets)... this is a HUGE difference... Hate the FDA for basically lying to the American public about these things. I know this because I work with pharmacists.
I've been taking Teva brand clonazepam for over 10 years now. Since Teva acquired Actavis Pharmaceuticals, there has been a shortage of Klonopin under the Teva brand name. I got a script of the Actavis pharmaceutical brand this month and it is awful. It's nothing like the Teva brand. For me the side effects are a lot worse and you have to take double the dosage 2 equal the normal dosage of Teva brand. If you look up the inactive ingredients in the different manufacturers of Klonopin you'll see that Teva is the closest to the brand name. Upjohn Pharmaceuticals makes the brand name. I've even called Teva International and asked if they're still making clonazepam in different milligrams. They told me yes. That was a few months ago. Now I get the script from Actavis which Teva owns but the ingredients in active are way different. I am not happy to say that I am an expert in this sort of stuff.
Number one is brand name Klonopin from upjohn. Then the generics, Teva, Sandoz, Milan, and then there's Actavis, Accord, and a couple others. That's the order from best 2 worst. I hope this helped your question. Also call the different pharmacies to see which brands they have in stock before you get a prescription from the doctor.
I got Teva ordered in Monday, I use an independent pharmacy.
what mg did you order Kmj523?
1mg 60 of them he ordered them without a problem
same. I took the TEVA brand for several years and it was perfect. slept well, calmed me, only took .5 mg. switch to now, Actavis brand since about June/July, and I'm not the same. can't sleep as well, more anger outbursts, and more anxiety. I got off of it for a week but the vivid nightmares were too much for me, and went back on it. now I plan on titrating down with my Dr., to get off of Actavis completely. It is a crap drug in my opinion.
I got Teva version last month and will be getting my next script in 2 days are you all sure they won’t be making Teva brand anymore? The c1 was horrible I took it for a year but my anxiety got worse, then a light blue one with v in it, it was better than the c1, but just took a Teva, and it is at least 30% more potent.
The company sent an email to me... horrifyingly true, no more Teva clonazepam. But, with a couple tries, years back I found an equal for their gabapentin (both for same condition). Ciplo brand. So hopefully will be better with a few more tries. Perhaps Mylan?
I have been taking .5 Teva brand for about 3 years. I too was unable to find any under the Teva brand a couple of months ago. I was given a months supply of one that I believe it was manufactured by mylan? It did nothing! My attacks were horrible, so bad that I took another dose and still no relief. Thankfully, I had a few Teva brand left when I refilled and was able to take those until I contacted Teva. I was told by Teva that although they were not making clonazepam under the Teva name that they are making activis and it was the same ingredients except for two in the .5 strength, one is a coloring agent. The Teva I took was yellow and now it's pink. The second ingredient Is providone. When I looked up povidone, it's an inactive ingredient that is used as a disintegrant, tablet binder and is a dispersing and suspending agent. I've just taken my first activis brand pill. I'm going to hold off on sending this reply for an hour so I can report what I feel. Ok.
It's been about an hour and I notice nothing different. I'm a little tired but that could be because I didn't sleep well.
I noticed the povidone used for coloring as well as texture in the Actavis 0.5 mg. I am allergic to iodine (as many people are) and thus povidone. I got my doctor to write for 1mg take 1/2 tab rather than 0.5. The 1 mg is still Teva, and the pharmacist set aside a supply of 500 pills for me. That will last a year. Then I will have to switch again.
Providone is in which brand’s compound?
Is it missing? Or added? To Actavis?
I took an Actavis two hours ago instead of my usual Teva. My ears started ringing, noticable spiking headache, and, Hi, I’m wide awake! Not to mention other effects...
But I filed a report with the FDA just now in some hope something will change for the better.
I am prescribed 4, 1mg pills a day! Can you begin to imagine what That withdrawal looks/feels like!!! I dont want to think of trying to live a life with severe panic ... because that is no life; I am dysfunctional.
Please. Someone out there. Please help us all.
The same thing happened with me on the actavis brand collectsdust!
I had some solco brand left but they give me awful stomach problems and breakthrough anxiety. Couldn't afford the name brand but I think that most likely would also effect my stomach looking at posts on here
I get my teva brand dissolving wafers tomorrow and I really really pray they work!
I've had heart palpitations, migraines, tinnitus, stomach upset, anorexia and extreme insomnia since I haven't taken then TEVA
I contacted them twice to let them know a simple Google search will show them they're ruining peoples lives.
I might lose my job and owe the hospital a lot thanks to all of this...
I made an FDA report on the actavis brand, I've been bedridden for 2 weeks!
After going through heck and back between Teva (no longer manufactured), Accord, Xanax and Actavis, my psy just wrote a new prescription for me for Actavis .5 mg - 1 in a.m., 2 in p.m., but my prescription says: 3 - 4 tabs per day as directed. In other words, I may take a half a tab if I feel I need it. So far so good, but the "sick and dizzy" is still hanging around from time to time. I think it take some getting used to when we've been on TEVA for many years. No, all clonazepam is NOT alike, as the pharmacists tell us (because Big Pharma tells them what to say), so toughing it through is sometimes the only option. But I think not telling the medical community that a brand contains no Benzos is criminal - to say the least. It affects way too many of us to let this go unnoticed and unpublished. The best to all of you in this thread. And remember - no caffeine - it messes with your clonazepam. That includes chocolate, coffee, real tea, etc., and may require you to take more clonazepam.
When my pharmacist told me the change I never gave it a thought, the government is always switching to cheapest price. But this time he said he got some patient feedback about noticing a difference and wanted me to let him know if I did.
I dropped a 10mg pill and found I could get to sleep and I adjusted to the slightly more intense effect. I adapted and keep trucking along. I was offered the brand name but it would cost me $40 extra a month which would definitely not be happening.
I hope you all adjust and let the change creep to your back mind.
I have been prescribed clonazepam for about ten years and have received a number of different generics. I’ve had the best results from Actavis, which I’ve been getting for the last several months, followed closely by Sandoz. Qualitest also produces a quality product. The worst by far, in my experience, is Accord Health Care’s version, which I found to be so ineffective that I notified my pharmacy (an independent pharmacy where I’ve been a loyal customer for 20+ years) after two weeks, and they informed me that they’d just received complaints about Accord’s ineffectiveness. They refilled the remainder of my prescription with Sandoz, who apparently have discontinued production of generic Klonopin.
In my area all of the pharmacies carry the Accord brand of Clonazepam and no other. I noticed right away it was weaker. Because my Doctors have given Clonazepam to me for years, I went into withdrawal, which is a literal nightmare... Now I must take more daily... I agree with SylviaBmab, 8t is criminal what the pharmaceutical companies are allowed to do. Praying everyone on here finds a new med to help you!
I HOPE TEVA KEEP MAKING ACTAVIS
After Mylan discontinued their clonazepam, I tried TEVA and it did nothing for me. Then I tried Accord and woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible panic attack. Then I tried Actavis and it has been a God sent for me. This last time my pharmacy was out of Actavis and refilled the new TEVA... I am at loss here... if they don't make Actavis again my doctor will do the paperwork and authorization with my insurance so I can get the brand name.
I was just put on act Dexedrine and it is definitely more potent and jittery
What is that
I have taken the teva brand for 15 years now I can't get them and was given the actavis brand. I feel it is making me dizzy and sick. I think it's whatever your body is used to and you can't just switch it up. Why do Big pharmas think otherwise?
Hopefully it will just take a little time for our bodies to readjust. I hate feeling this way. I am 7 days into the new brand and still not much better. I’m not sure what else to do other then try and tough it out. I have also tried the Northstar brand for a bit over a week and that didn’t make me feel any better. I’m going to try and take a little less and see if maybe the brand is just to strong and this is why my reaction is so bad. I’m lost. I hope things get better for you.
How is it making ou feel? I take two .5 mg a day and I couldn't figure out by I was feeling so bad until I looked up the different brand and found all these comments. I just switched 2 days ago and it's really awful.
I feel out of it. I am taking the brand name Klonopin now. I have stomach upset, dizziness, headache, chest tightness, on and off exhaustion, dry eyes and mouth, and it seems like my anxiety is worse at times. It’s a very drugged feeling. I have always taken .5 Teva morning and night without issue. I have starting taking a bit less of the Klonopin thinking that maybe it was to strong and that was why I was feeling so bad. I’m calling the doctor again tomorrow because I can’t function like this and I can’t work or take care of things I need to while feeling like this. I did ask the pharmacist and all they tell me is I shouldn’t feel any different because they all have the same active ingredient.
Same thing w me. Picked up my medicines last week and noticed I was given yellow pills. Actually, I was on Teva for several years with no issues. Given Solco blue 1mg tablet. I was told Teva no longer manufactures clonazapem. I am freaking out because I have migraine headaches and a tough time concentrating. Has anyone switched to brand name Klonopin to address this issue?
I switched to the name brand and have been having a hard time. I think I’m going to try and push through for a few weeks to see if my body will adjust. Im kit really sure what else to do. This has been terrible.
I switched to CVS months because they carried teva and when rite aid became Walgreens they stopped carrying teva and have accord instead and I felt nothing off of those. I just picked up my script today and it’s Actavis. I suffer from severe anxiety, bipolar 1, depression, and PTSD because I was sexually abused when I was 6 and raped 18 years later. I really need this stuff to work. I’m a single, working mother of a beautiful 2 year old little girl whose father passed away last year and I have to keep it together for her.
Jackie have you tried the Activis and if so how is it working for you. I have been switched to brand Klonopin and I’m not having much luck with it. I’m just wondering if the Activis is closer to the Teva as that worked wonderful for me with no side effects. I can’t seem to function right with the Klonopin brand name. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Hi All,
I totally agree about brand name Roche. It was really hard on my stomach and I was taking it at the same dosage as TEVA and I had massive anxiety.
For what it’s worth I think that what I perceived as Roche side effects was actually breakthrough anxiety. Upping the dose and giving it time helped, but for me it was not nearly as good as TEVA.
Did the Activist work ? It was not as good to me ,I was given it once . I currently have always been on Accord it works better for me. I read nobody else likes the Accord . My thought is to see if CVS has Teva now . I am not sure .
Hi Crusader... I have been on Teva Clonazepam and Prozac 20 mg for Panic Disorder/Agoraphobia/Depression for 12 years... started at 0.5 (half in am and half at night) then up to .75 (0.5 in am, 1/2 in afternoon and 1/2 at bedtime)... October 2017 my Dr upped the dose to 1 mg 3 times a day as needed... I only take half of the 1 mg in the am, 1/2 in afternoon and 1/2 at bedtime. My Question to you is do you take yours on a regular basis daily? My Pharmacist said she doesn’t like me doing that... but I haven’t had an issue all these years! Dr only upped my dose because of stress/anxiety at work and now my Mom is terminally ill... made me feel like I was doing something wrong! I wouldn’t be able to leave my house or work if I didn’t take my meds! By the way I’m a pill phobe so I try to stay at a low dose as possible and have massage therapy, talk therapy and Reiki as a non pharmaceutical alternative! Looking for a second opinion on the daily dosage... Let me know if you take your Actavis Clonazepam at the same time everyday thanks!
Hello Labmom919, yes I take mine every day and have so for the last 10 years . I take .5 in the morning.25 in the afternoon and .5 at bedtime. A good psychiatrist can tell you the best way to take it . Pharmacists are not medical doctors and do not necessarily know the best way to treat. My advice would be to consult your doctor preferably a psychiatrist as these doctors are the most knowledgeable about these medications. I know several patients who have done very well on clonazepam for years without any problems. Just don’t abruptly stop this medicine .
Hi Crusader thanks for answering. My doctor knows I take it 3 times a day. I’m on a small dose. There are people who are at 4mg a day.
Do you find the Activas Brand more potent than Teva?
Yes it is a little more effective than Teva for me it was a bit sedating at first but then I got used to it. I have rarely had any panic attacks in the past 6 years on actavis.
3mgs a day is not a "low dose"
"The initial dose for adults with panic disorder is 0.25 mg bid. An increase to the target dose for most patients of 1 mg/day may be made after 3 days. The recommended dose of 1 mg/day is based on the results from a fixed dose study in which the optimal effect was seen at 1 mg/day. Higher doses of 2, 3 and 4 mg/day in that study were less effective than the 1 mg/day dose and were associated with more adverse effects."
Also disregard anything your pharmacist says, their job is to fill pills not give opinions. Dr write scripts on their opinions.
No difference
I think Actavis is very ineffective, and has the side effect of insomnia and anger. I have never been this angry in my life and even taking one doesn't help any anxiety or anger or sleep. I doubt there is any clonazepam in there. Miss the old TEVA brand, which worked for years.
I just realized that months ago the Clonazepam began not helping me with my seizures and Nocturnal anxiety attacks. I have been on this generic drug for over 25 years. I realized that the color changed months ago, but didn't think much of it. I notices that my anxiety and seizures were not kept under control. My doctor actually had to up my dosage to control my medical issues.
Now I realize that I had been getting this generic from TEVA USA for YEARS. Then Harris Teeter changed Pharma company to Accord - A Chinese company. I am very upset right now. I can't find any pharmacy in my area which takes my insurance who still buy Clonazepam from TEVA!
GeriGirl42251,
Have you found a replacement for your Teva clonazepam since it is being switched by Teva to Activas? Teva bought Activas and is letting that company make their clonazepam and it is not the Teva “recipe”... Thank you...
I have taken the Actavis brand for several years now and I think it is more effective than the Teva brand.
So far I've been on actavis for 2weeks now and I can totally feel the difference it's much weaker. If teva is not manufacturing anymore I'm in trouble... It's so embarrassing having panic attack every few hours. I was just in the supermarket and I had major panic attack and people who were working there almost had to call ambulances because they thought I was having a heart attack.. I can't ask my doctor to up the dose because I'm already on higher dose already. Sucks..
Peter,
I hate the fact that you’re going through this and that Actavis isn’t working for you. I had a panic attack about 2 weeks ago on Roche Klonopin and I’m not gonna forget it anytime soon.
Have you considered generic clonazepam orally disintegrating tablets? I take some manufactured in New York (Par) and had to double to triple my dose but they are ok. I feel different vs TEVA and am praying that they will work long term as I have a big new job coming up.
RIP TEVA clonazepam. For me it’s like losing a good friend.
I switched from Qualitest to Actavis in 2013 it took me about 2 weeks to get used to Actavis. It was actually more sedating for me at first. I would give it a few days your brain will adjust so long as you are not having any reaction to the inactive ingredient. Actavis was one of the original makers of the generic clonazepam they bought Watson and then Teve bought Actavis in 2014. They have there own manufacturing facilities right here in the US one is in New Jersey. My brother used to work for the Actavis facility in New Jersey he was QC said they have very strict quality control.
Crusader,
Thanks for the backstory on Actavis. I basically agree with you about taking time to adjust to a new generic.
We are all pretty ‘attuned’ or anxious so we’re gonna feel differences. Oddly enough I feel MORE energy on my Par .5 ODT and wish it was more sedating.
I’m hoping in some time that activating effect will even out. Again, I agree about taking some time (plus maybe messing with dose) to let oneself adjust. And def get a generic made in the USA.
PS-what do u like about Actavis and are u on the same dose as u were on TEVA?
As I said, my one drugstore had me on clonazepam .5 from Accord Heath (China) and it was not working. I found out from a new drugstore that they had TEVA Clonazepam but that .5 is being fazed out. The pharmacist didn't say anything about TEVA having the drug make by Activis. I have not had it filled yet because it's not been the 30 day from the Accord med. I'm so confused at this point, I'm anticipating that the pharmacist will say "Oh, by the way, this is not really TEVA." My doctor is ordering 1 mg to split in half - one in the morning, one at night. I take the med for simple partial seizures. I was born with my internal carotid artery going directly through my middle ear. A doctor thought I had some kind of brain infection in 1973 and did an exploratory operation. While he was in there he punctured the artery. He thought it was my jugular bulb. Years later I had an arteriogram and the Hopkins confirmed that the doc punctured the carotid.
He patched up the site of the puncture - doctor now think that he caused the twist (kink) in the artery and I don't get sufficient oxygen to my brain, hence the seizures. Also I have nocturnal anxiety attack/sleep walking (running) I don't remember these attacks but I've broken bones - fallen down stairs, etc. Hubby tells me about them. The next day I feel like a horse kicked me in the heard. Sorry this is so long, but you can see that I need the clonazepam to be very effective.
The Actavis to me is very good and lasts long. I am on .5 morning and evening a day and .25 ion the afternoon. I literally have not missed a single dose in 8 years and take it everyday. I have never felt the need to escalate my dose and never felt like I became tolerant. when I started on Clonazepam I was on Teva then Qualitest and now Actavis, it was the Qualitest that made me go through some withdrawals but once I went on the Actavis it has been smooth sailing. I had to briefly come off the medication because I was enlisting in a different branch of the military but once I was back in the Army doctor started me back on it. A side note I find it amazing how Army docs hand out benzos like candy, I know at least 3 fellow soldiers who are on the benz.
Thanks for the comments. Crusader, thank you for the feedback on Actavis. I’m trying not to piss of my Dr. and have tried 4 types ofconazepam so I’m gonna try to make Par .5 odt work for me for now so he doesn’t cut me off.
Gerigirl-I get upset when I hear about your situation and that you are needing strong, reliable clonazepam for seizures and anxiety.
This big pharma/generic dance is pretty messed up. I think you’re going to need a Dr. who will work with you on trying different types of clonazepam at different doses.
I thought the world of TEVA. Took .25 for 15 years and it helped me accomplish many goals and dreams. This is such a loss. Actavis May be ok, but is a different formula (no povidone binder) as I called the company.
Part of me wants to start a petition to get TEVA back. Best to you and I’m sorry you are going through this.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and very articulate response. I do have a wonderful doctor. He is the type who will sit down with me when I see him (I have a wellness appt soon) and he will search the internet to find the "best" clonazepam for me. I'm sure that he knows how important the "half-life" of the drug really is. I'll keep the forum updated as to what happens with me. So happy to have found this forum!!
FOR PEOPLE LOOKING FOR TEVA clonazepam:
Try your local Walmart. I have 2 in my area of North Carolina that have the big 500-1000 count bottles left of Teva .05 strength. Call your local Walmart, they may or may not tell you what brand they carry if you call. Ive had a few WMs around me not tell me over the phone but if you go to the store they will tell you if you ask in the "drop off" line. They will also tell you probably that they don't know how long they will stock them. I ask them everytime before placing my order at WM "do you have the Teva Brand" . You can walk if they don't have the brand you want people! You are paying for it so you should get what you want! I've had 1 salesperson there say "does it have to be Teva" and I answered yes. She then had it filled and as I was leaving WM I looked in the bottle and it was Accord brand.
I turned right around and went right back up to the drop off line and told the same girl to change it and she did and apoligized. Do not put up with these pharmacies running over you . Do the leg work of calling or going into each store until you find what you want.
Side note: CVS who I use to get my Tevas from who no longer carries has the ability to check the other CVS/Targets in the areas stock to see what brand they have in stock. Just ask "are there any stores around that have the Teva brand" and with some pressure they will be able to tell you.
Never settle people!!
Accord makes the worst clonazepam by far... all 7 pharmacies in this small town only carry this brand. Had to go to nearby city and have TEVA ordered by mom and pop pharmacy...
Why don’t we all get together and demand that they make teva again.
Teva is No longer making Clonizapam! I’m very upset about it because it Really Worked. My pharmacy kept giving me Northstar Clonizapam and it was absolutely useless. I googled it and found out Northstar didn’t make the Clonizapam but bought the medicine from another company and they put their label on it! Why they do this is probably related to trying to find a cheaper medicine so they can make more profit, other than that it just doesn’t make sense. If your having trouble finding a generic that works, ask your doctor to give you the Real name brand which is Klonopin. He has to specify to your pharmacy that it is medically necessary in a written prescription every month, but it’s worth it to get a medicine that actually works unlike most generics! It will cost more but I don’t mind paying extra for a medication that actually works.
Very sorry about what you went through Peter Kim, The Actavis works very well for me and I have PTSD from the war and when I was a kid I was abused as well. Have been suffering from PTSD GAD and OCD for several years. Clonazepam is the only thing that seems to help.
Thanks !!
Why are the inactive account always positive? Looking for real patients that used these medications please.
Re the person wondering about these anonymous contributors; Good question. I can’t imagine the number of people who have serious conditions who are being left hanging by corporate manipulations of generic anti-ancity meds. My sister and I received a new RX generic. She didn’t sleep for a week and developed a rash. I, on the other hand can’t seem to wake up and am exhausted every day. These are similar complaints to other’s experiences. I wonder if the FDA is aware of the widespread conplications with the new generics.
Is anyone else sensitive to or “allergic” to dyes in medication? I was on Mylan.5 because it’s pale yellow #10. It’s discontinued. Lately I also have fluid retention. I was on 1.5 before but now have white2mg Accord because it has no dye.I find that if I cut them, to equal 1.5, they don’t work well. Activis should have worked, but I got really bad fluid retention in my legs. I tried compounded clonazepam and it is like taking nothing - zero.
I have found both the Actavis and Teva work well for me. I try to take it once every two to three days only so I don't build up tolerance. A friend says Actavis is the best of the generic versions of Klonopin.
Because some of us (the majority) actually use these medications and they do work. I'm not questioning any of you... however tens of thousands of patients are not sitting around writing reviews. They're living happy functional lives.
@KayRKen.
Actavis 2mg are powerful pills. Sedation is great and it relaxes my whole body.
just got my meds yesterday and they didnt have Teva only Actavis . I AM NOT FEELING ANYTHING IS IT JUST ME please HELP !!! I've been taking this med for long time for my major anxiety issue. Even since I can recall my parents lock me in a closet and used to abuse me physically to a point I would bleed sometime. Of course at that time i was very young and they changed over the years. But ever since college that's when everything fell apart I keep forgetting thing hard to remember or think.. and believe or not kept getting anxiety attacks every few hrs.. so they had to put me on this medication. Any thoughts weather Actavis works???
Peter Kim,
Has taking the Actavis clonazepam gotten any easier? I know that Teva brand has been discontinued and Teva is now selling the Activas clonazepam as Teva brand since they bought the company... Thank you for your thoughts...
Today, went to pharmacy and they told me they have TEVA now. But I still have to wait because I still have week left. Of Actavis. Past couple weeks were nightmare. ... couldn't sleep, eat, or even go out. My anxiety and my depression was out if control. ... I'm counting down the days til I get my teva.
Hey Peter, so I've been on the Mylan brand for 11 years which worked amazing for me. However the last time I refilled my Rx they gave me something from a manufacturer called Accord. Low and behold it is like a placebo. It melts quick on the tongue and tastes like a sugar pill. I had to have my doc fill out another Rx, and found out that they not only discontinued Mylan (which I loved) but are also discontinuing TEVA, which I verified over the phone with both TEVA and MYLAN. Teva said they bought out Actavis and are using their pills. So I decided to go with Actavis. I don't know if they are overbearing (too strong) or too weak. My heart starts racing around 5 hours after taking the 1mg Feels like I'm going to have a stroke, and I'm a pretty healthy guy in good shape. Anyways the last 6 days of taking them, I've had a CONSTANT HIGH PITCHED TONE IN MY EARS. It won't stop.
I'm at my wits end, because they sent out the last batch of Mylan that will be distributed, and I don't want to take them to feel better, and then a few months from now, have to go through this hell again. I want it fixed now. I see my doctor tomorrow and I called my prescription drug company through my insurance, and they sent over what is called a Brand Penalty Exception Form. The doctor must fill it out and state why your current meds aren't working (obviously because they switched manufacturers and are no longer being made), and then its up to the Rx drug company to either accept it or deny it in order to obtain the NAME BRAND KLONOPIN. It will still be a significantly more expensive copay if approved, but nothing what it costs out of pocket, which is insane. Please keep us up to date, as I will too. Also I urge everyone to contact the FDA and let them know that we demand change with these multiple manufacturers making their own versions of each name brand drug. The different fillers added change everything in how they are metabolized. I should not feel great on Mylan brand and be going to another manufacturer that is the same medication, and feel 10 times worse. They should be REQUIRED to have the same effectiveness as the NAME BRAND and same fillers and efficacy. There should not be allowed to have a 20% difference under the FDA guidelines. Just because they require the same amount of Clonazepam, doesn't mean that its effectiveness is the same, when you're allowing all of these cheap fillers to bind the medication. There's obviously something wrong, when there are thousands upon thousands, of people having the same issues when it comes to Brand name vs generics, or generics vs generics.
I just went through a month of Activis after a month of TEVA (available in 1 mg. but can be cut in half). After cutting down on quetiapine for sleep to 25 mg. (I have diabetes and tardive dyskinesia and all my doctors want me OFF quetiapine.) Like you, I felt NOTHING with the Actavis and sleepy with the TEVA. I will get TEVA as long as I can.
I am a (retired) psychologist with a PhD in methodology and measurement as well as clinical, so I have lots of experience with evaluating drugs. Both TEVA and Actavis are rated AB by the FDA (the best) but there is a world of difference. TEVA is generally the best maker of generics.
Have you ever tried chewing them up and dissolving them completely in your mouth? I do this every time, and I don't swallow. Clonazepam absorbs very well through the lining of your mouth. I've never been able to have any brand work properly if I swallow the pills whole. Not only do they kick in much faster through your mouth's mucous membrane, but the bioavailability should be much higher when taken this way because it bypasses the first metabolism of the liver. Also, try asking for clonazepam orally disintegrating tablets next time. CVS told me that they I just have to request it in advance, as my insurance does cover it, but they don't keep them in stock. You just have to have the doctor write it that way, and CVS told me t. I'm going to at my next appointment. They are actually designed to be taken this way. The regular oral tablets still work much better this way too. I can almost guarantee that this will make a big difference.
Try that with the oral tablets you have now, and see if you can get the orally disintegrating ones next time, but make sure your pharmacy will have them in stock when you go to fill them. You definitely don't want to run out entirely while waiting for them to get them in if there's a delay. I would ask several days in advance. But DEFINITELY try chewing the regular tables and not swallowing for now.
*I'm going to ask my shrink to write the script that way at my next appt
I’m on day 1 of Actavis after last night and I didn’t feel anything for like 5 hours and started to panic thinking it was a placebo. I woke up today pretty sedated and apathetic, I’ll take care this over the withdrawals that Northstar gave me. I have 2 days of Teva left for emergencies, I took one during the Northstar withdrawals and it felt so good like when I first started taking them. I’m gonna miss them big time, if another company takes their formula and puts them back on the market I will ship them lunch for a month. I just wanted to comment that it seems Actavis takes longer to work but it does in fact work for me so other people reading this don’t automatically believe this will happen to them like I did last night. I really hope another generic helps you and remember we are all different, what doesn’t work for one may be tailor made for you. Good luck and keep us posted about your endeavors.
I Understand-Same for ME!
Oh man, I know exactly what you’re going through (it feels like withdrawals or is a sugar pill to me!)
I’m feeling the same way. Ugh. Trying to fall asleep with Actavis isn’t working! Wish they still made TEVA!!
I just got my Clonazepam last week. I was using Teva's successfully for years. The new one, Actavis IS NOT WORKING AT ALL. Same strength as before, but it's like I'm taking a sugar pill. It's not making a dent in my anxiety at all and now my panic attacks are back. I don't know what to do. I'm miserable.
Your parents should be beaten!
No, it is not just you! My pharmacy was out of Clonazepam, but gave me 6 of the ones I normally take (Blue Sky). Blue Sky, round blue pill was great... relieved anxiety, calmed me down, but mild. Picked up the rest of the Rx on Monday and they were Actavis. These made my stomach upset, made me shaky, blurred my vision and did NOTHING for anxiety. They take 2 hours to begin to work. Thought maybe I just needed to get used to them, but no... 2nd day just as bad. I called the pharmacy and no help. I have a call into my Dr. He will have to call in a new script with instructions to fill now. I offered to return the unused pills to him for destruction. this is awful! I can hardly type because my vision is so blurry. Something really wrong here!
You're not the only one last month I got activist as well and it gave me unwanted side effects and extra anxiety. So I switch to the Sandoz pharmaceutical brand which is better than activist but all the generics have been getting bad. I would switch to Alprazolam extended release if the doctor will go for it.
I had been taking the Teva brand for many years too. I take the .05 mg and has always worked fine until about 4 months ago when they changed it to the Actavis brand. Big difference. I am trying to find a way to get the Teva because my Dr. gave me a script for Brand name Klonopin and with great insurance it will cost me 50.00 for 30 tablets or 100.00 for 90. I have to find the Teva brand so I can feel better again without being broke from the cost.
Actavis clonazepam is sugar pill.//fake//
I would email Actavis, Teva, and the FDA. Also... talk to your doctor immediately and if no help from your regular MD, get at least two more opinions.
My story 23 years ago I was put on clonazepam by a medical doctor. I have been taking Teva 1 mg. Twice a day for over two decades. I noticed several months ago my normal green Teva med looked different, and did not seem as potent. I had no idea Teva was selling this item to another company. I agree with the above about the Actavis, did nothing for me but cause horrible side effects. Anxiety higher than it was, dizziness, insomnia, headaches, vision changes, shakiness. Still dont feel right 17 hours after taken. I know this medication if stopped suddenly can cause seizures, which can result in death. I am seeking my Doctor's advice as I type this. I have anxiety, panic disorder that was easily controlled by my green teva 1 mg for over 20 years. Now I have to find something that will work for my original issues along with possible seizures. Why was I kept on this so long, that actually worked for me, then it disappears forever? Very upset with this now.
Teva should have given notice if this to patients using it through the pharmaceutical industry, so we could plan a taper before they stopped making them. Now I have to find something else that makes me feel sick like Actavis. Until the day I can taper somehow with no seizure risks. Very upset former customer.
Actavis SUCKS and doesn't work at all. I'm up, again, after taking .5 mg to help me sleep. I've had way more anxiety and way more anger on this drug and I'm getting the hell off of it. it doesn't work anywhere near as good as the old TEVA brand.
Youre not alone! Did things get better for you? The actavis brand put me into withdrawal and it was this thread that helped me figure out what was going on after going to the ER twice thinking i was dying. It would wake me up after 2 hours with panic attacks, anger, headaches and other withdrawal symptoms that lasted all day (nausea, vomiting, inability to eat, apathy). I'm trying to go back to the SOLCO brand, which worked but made me a bit cranky. I'll take cranky over the hell I've been going through the past 2 weeks.
Why are you taking Clonazepam ? It is horrible for anxiety , It's not for anxiety . I would look into lorazepam or diazepam if you want real relief .
Its a good drug for anxiety. Longer lasting than Xanax or ativan. It made my agoraphobia and anxiety disappear and helped me get good restful sleep. ..until teva stopped making it
I thought it was only me who noticed an increase in their anxiety over the last almost year while still taking Teva.
Needless to say, I Panicked when my recent prescription was filled with Actavis after specifically requesting Teva. (There is a note at the base of the script that reads (Teva = Activas). After reading the above strings, I know why that is too!
I used to be on a combination of Clonazepam and Ativan.
If this Activas does weird things to me, which I’m crossing my fingers wont happen, I’m going to be begging my Psych to go back to the Ativan/Clonazepam combo.
I mention this in case it might help some of you as well.
Klonopin withdrawal is about as nasty as it gets, and after the near 20 years I have been on it, I definitely have experienced minor withdrawal from stoopidity and missed meds, and I dont want to go through full blown withdrawal! Nor do I want to, nor can my brain sustain the amount of anxiety it will generate.
So many things of these months are beginning to make sense now that someone mentioned their Teva seemed different! And here I thought it was my issues! Ah ha!
Wishing everyone Teva dreams!!!
Peter,
You are not alone! I have been on Clonazepam (1 tab three times per day) for several years now. I did not pay much attention to brands I was given, but whatever brand I was given worked just fine. Recently, I was told by my pharmacist that they now only carry the Actavis and Accord brands. FYI, Accord is made in China, and I think it is MUCH worse than Actavis. In fact, there is another thread on Drugs.com that talks about how bad the Accord brand is for patients.
I went through absolute hell for two months on the Accord and Actavis brands. I live in a large city, and I actually called every pharmacy here - and could not find one pharmacy that sells anything other than the Actavis or Accord brands (usually Accord).
Some people are having their doctors write their Clonazepam prescriptions for “brand name only”, or Klonopin. This did not work for me, because my insurance refused to pay for Klonopin, and I certainly cannot afford to pay for it out of pocket.
To make a long story short, my doctor finally had to increase my dosage of Actavis from 1 tab three times a day, to 1 and 1/2 tabs three times per day to even get close to the effect that I used to get.
I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but it is terrible for those of us who are suffering.
I hope I was able to somewhat help you. Good luck!
Hi, I am in the same boat. I called the FDA and they told me strongly to submit a "medwatch" for consumers report on their website. I did it today and it took about 30 minutes to complete. If enough people send them in, the FDA will investigate. Please do this so that we can stop feeling so awful.
I've been on clonazepam 1mg twice daily for over 20 years. Teva ALWAYS worked great for me. Then they switched me to Accord which eventually worked, but had to take it a few hours before I left for work instead of 30 minutes before like Teva. My co pay was always $5.00. Then they switched me to Accord and my co pay went to $1.90. NOW they have me on Actavis which doesnt work AT ALL and my co pay is under a dollar. I SWEAR I think something is going on and they are selling me sugar pills to see if I really need it. Ive even called to all the pharmacies in town. Some will tell me what brand they have, a couple of them tell me they arent allowed to tell me what brand they carry, just whatever is cheapest. The pharmacist tried to tell me all generics have to be the same and work the same. I call B/S! So did my psychologist. He said they are definitely not the same.
Right now Im taking 1- 1mg actavis in the morning, a doxepin in the afternoon to boost it, and then another actavis 2 hours before I leave work and a doxepin 30 minutes before I leave work. My anxiety is the worst when driving and I sit in traffic for hours each way to work.
My Rx says Teva on the bottle. However, if in fact they are using the Actavis formula, it has continued to work just fine for me. Sometimes we get anxious because change is difficult, but Actavis was once a part of Watson Labs, and I found several of their meds including the Atorvastatin, the best of all generic Lipitor. I posted a list of all pharma companies on this forum. When you get an Rx that is from s new company, contact the company and ask if the drug is made in the US. If no, then ask your pharmacy to see if their supplier can find you a brand that suits you better. Don’t be nervous. Dometimes it’s change that plays trick with the mind. Give the Actavis a shot. It will be effective, snd you will be just fine. :)
I use to take Teva’s Clonizapam, it worked great, the problem was 1/2 the time my pharmacy would switch pharmaceutical companies and I guess their cheapest backup was made by Northstar. I swear there was Absolutely 0 medication in that brand! I contacted that company after reading numerous complaints about Northstar, I was told that Northstar did Not make Clonizapam and they actually bought it from Another company and Put Their Name On it!!! I complained about how useless it was and just how many others agreed, so it wasn’t just me.
I was told they would investigate it and get back to me, Never heard a word, which doesn’t surprise me., Then when I found out Teva was going to stop making the drug I was devastated so I got my doctor to prescribe the name brand which is Klonopin so I wouldn’t have to deal with these many generics that may or may not work because there’s nothing worse than getting a months worth of cxxp! The only drawback is it cost more and I have to get a written script Every month from my doctor saying it is Medically necessary, that’s a real pain but if you want what works badly enough, you will do it. Many pharmacies don’t carry name brands But,,, they Can order it! Be sure to speak with the head pharmacist of each pharmacy you call because some flunky will not know, even if they Think they do! Also, there are Many other drugs on the market that you can try like Xanax which in my opinion is better than Clonizapam, doctors Just hate to give it since it’s been abused and a lot of it is sold on the streets, but there are many many others, don’t be afraid to ask, you have a right!
Actavis worked excellent for me. The new Teva threw me for a terrible loop. Again I wish they would just make both formulas because they help so many of us
Teva, definitely!
What drug store can I find Teva. My pharmacy doesn't carry it anymore.
Teva has obsoleted its clonazepam and will be re-launching the Actavis Clonazepam this week. This is what I was told when I called customer service.
The Actavis is a very good brand I take the .5mg version.
Totally, I want them back! What can we do?
You can call TEVA customer service at 1-888-838-2872
I called today and was told 2 weeks but to call back next week. I have to fill next week and this is stressing me out
I was told mid June. I have the Teva 832 yellows but haven’t taken them yet because I have some year old Actavis I am hoping will hold me over... not sure how well the Teva yellow works.
Teva is gone for good and has been replaced by Actavis... not sure how long until pharmacies can get the Actavis into their warehouse. No one seems to have any. My pharmacy still has the yellow .5 Teva not sure how good they are.
Bummer, I will miss the old ones!
TEVA worked great for me no side effects.
Now that Teva is no longer manufacturing clonazepam, called everywhere in my area no Teva.
My prescription was filled with MYLAN BRAND, horrible side effects can't function.
Only other brand avaible in my area is Accord or North Star any has anyone taken these brands any comments?
Also called Teva and they said that Actavis would be avaible next week, someone said they were taking Actavis I thought it was new how long has this drug been around is it any good?
Actavis is a very good brand I've been on it for years.
Crusader32, can you tell me the pharmacy that still has Teva clonazepam .5mg? It’s the only generic I can tolerate and I ran out of it yesterday. I desperate here.
The other generics give me major side effects and simply don’t work. I can’t wait another week or two for the Actavis clonazepam to be in stock. If anybody knows of a pharmacy within the continental IS that still has Teva clonazepam please, please let me know. Thanks.
Hi, I just found out the brand I take is made by Qualitest. It it a blue 1 mg pill It seems to work fine now after being on it for 3 weeks. I do miss the score line, however.
TEVA is gone... I'm struggling. It's all I've ever used. They gave me Accord, I fell asleep while standing and bruised my arm. TEVA yellow, was amazing normal, that I understood inside and out and knew how and exactly effects my body. I hope greatly there isn't someone out there that hits there head or has some horrid accident changing manufacturers. MUCH bigger deal than they make it out to be. If anyone knows where there are any TEVA left, I will gladly call across country.
Actavis is available now and works just as well if not better than the former Teva brand. Also another good brand is Solco or Northstar any one of these brands are way better than Accord. Check your local CVS or Walgreens
Teva .5 mg is by far the best for me. I have tried Accord, Northstar, and Mylan. All of which were way to strong for me. If anyone knows where to find the .5 Teva, please post, I would love to be on them again. I am waiting to try the Actavis .5 to see if that is as gentle. In the meantime, all of you who are missing Teva, I have been taking the 1 mg Teva blue pill and splitting it into quarters. If I take .5 of it, it is too strong... So I have been doing about .25 of it. For some reason its about the same as the yellow pill. I have no idea how that's possible. But its what works for me.
Sorry I meant Teva 1mg GREEN pill 833
The Pharmacies are cutting their costs and getting Generic Meds from the lowest Bidder! Teva was a Decent Generic brand of Klonopin. Myron is about the WORST Generic quality controlled form of Klonopin I have ever taken and now Actavis is replacing Teva and is slightly better then Myron, but still NOT near the Quality of what Teva was, which was also a step down from Brand Name! These Companies are cutting corners & quality at the expense of Severe Withdrawal, along with pain & suffering of the Consumer Patient's!! This is NOT RIGHT and needs to be addressed before somebody dies from the Side Effects, which I bet has already happened! I see a large Class Action Lawsuit comimg down the pipeline... that is if you can ever recover anything from them before they go Bankrupt or change Names etc! They could care less about the Patient, it's all about the Greedy $Dollar$ nowadays!
**Spelling Correction... the Company is actually "Mylan"... sorry!
On 06/19/18 when I got my prescription filled, the gave me the Teva brand back. So, I guess they are not gone. Thought you might like to know.
Teva Clonazepam is now Actavis. When warehouses run out of the Teva brand there will only be Actavis, Teva no longer produces its own Clonazepam. Actavis is a very good brand and in my opinion better than the old Teva.
I was told by my new pharmacist at Wegman's that TEVA was discontinuing their .5 Clonazepam but will still have the 1 mg. My doctor is going to prescribe the 1 mg and it's scored, so I just split it and take half in the morning, half at night. I trust TEVA completely and want to stay with them.
It was Harris Teeter who was getting their Clonazepam from China - Accord Health.
Teva is much much more effective, compared to Accord. I took Teva for years and it was very
helpful in helping me to sleep.. Accord is about 50% LESS effective.. My pharmacy changed
to Accord and i am very, very very, very, very angry. Accord is a cheap Chinese company !
Hey Peter and the rest of the group, so I've been on the Mylan brand for 11 years which worked amazing for me. Now I get the other brand, do not like it as well as Qualist. The big dark blue pills worked much better. I know they are available, so I hope to talk to my pharmacy and get that brand. Will let you know in a week. Wish me luck
I don't feel sleepy with the Actavis and do with the Teva. Both are rated AB generics, but there is actually quite a difference. Teva is better if you can get it.
TEVA is what my pharmacist started me with a decade ago. One time, I tried Qualitest and felt irritable. After, I made sure I stayed with TEVA, didn't mind waiting for it to be special ordered. Recently, I learned my pharmacist could no longer get TEVA, so I had to try brands. Accord made me feel nauseous. Next, I tried Actavis. The Actavis feels stronger than the TEVA and works ok/good. Mylan is ok, but low dosed. TEVA eased the sense on worry the best for me. I did save some TEVA, to help me a gradual transition. Please bring TEVA back :)
My Daughter has been on Teva since 2006. The pharmacy switched to another generic and she had severe withdrawal symptoms with increased anxiety. They were able to get her Teva for the next couple of months until supplies were used. This past refill was Activis and she is not doing well on it. Increased anxiety, headaches. These generics are not all the same and the consumer should not have to be concerned on who and where they are manufactured. And the FDA rules are not as stringent as the name brand. Again the $ over the well being of the patient. Not sure what she will be able to do at this point. I do not even think the physicians realize the game playing with the pharmaceuticals and even the Drug stores who wheel and deal to the the best price. Anyone have any ideas or tips, please comment. Thanks.
being on the Actavis brand of klonopin has really affected me - don't sleep as well, wake up angry and not refreshed, and more anxiety in the middle of the day. took .5 mg at night, most night, but am tapering off now. I took 1 mg last night and slept for only 3 hours, woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. they REALLY messed this drug up switching to Actavis! Getting off of this crap!
Teva bought Actavis. My pharmacist just ordered TEVA generic clonazepam for me... Teva still manufacturing clonazepam...
I called Teva and they have stopped manufacturing the "Teva" version of clonazepam. They are manufacturing the Actavis brand though. So, technically Teva is still manufacturing clonazepam, just not the pills with the word "Teva" on it. This is also confirmed on their website. The pills shown are only the "Actavis" versions.

They are slightly different mixes, but work similar, at least for me. None of the blue pills brands were effective for me- felt ill, mentally and physically. The Actavis seemed a little stronger than Teva. Both of these brands do what they're meant to, block anxiety, feel much more relaxed, "I'll be okay" feeling. For sleep, I use Remeron. When combining these, I don't have to use what is prescribed on the bottles because I can do fine with much less (don't tell your doc this). My formula: 0.5 mg Klonopin with 10 mg Remeron about an hour before bedtime. When I feel it really kicking in, I prep for bed and top it with 0.25 mg Klonopin with water to keep me in REM sleep longer. For this to work properly for me, no caffeine products after 6 PM. The Remeron usually comes in 30 mg tabs, they are cheap, and most docs will prescribe if you mention they were effective for you before. Hope this helps someone to get a good nights rest without feeling hung over.
Since I've been with Teva for a while, I will give props to them. My local CVS had them available a couple weeks ago. Winn Dixie can no longer order at this time.
It is a nightmare medication. If you like feeling sick, no help for your anxiety, panic disorder, phobia, insomnia, dont even think it protects you from seizures, like Teva did. Tapering off clonazepam, no choices left and not just me but I am in groups of many unhappy people wanting to taper off this awful medication. Without Teva, no more benzos ever. Finding another solution.
I just realized that Activis is not working for me too . The pharmacy said that they get what they can get without running low . I asked he if my next refill would be Activis? She said possibly if not it would be another called Soho?? Im.not sure how it is spelled . I was always on accord it works fine. I'm wondering what is the best between Activis and the Soho generic ? I will call to see who has Accord brand but if not which does anyone think is best besides Teva as that is no longer available. Anyone? Thanks any answers would help . Never had that Sohho before.
I have found both work well, but the Actavis is more sedating. It can make me sleepy. Might be able to cut my dose in half if taking in the day or only take it at night. I have been taking one mg every two or three days.
Actavis is giving me heart palpitations.. Im not taking this brand anymore .. it's terrible
So as I have said before the last month or two I've been on Accord brand clonazepam 1mg and they were not working I had every side effect everyone else was having so I called my Pharmacy today and found that the only other company that makes good quality clonazepam is Actavis so my pharmacist said they are ordering Actavis and it should be here by tomorrow since my doctor wrote me a completely new script thank God for my doctor or I would be in the emergency room fighting for my life having seizures so I recommend if you get clonazepam as a prescription before you get them filled make sure your pharmacist is not going to give you the Accord brand also I found out Medicaid does not pay for brand-name and it's about $155 for 30 2 milligram tablets or over $200 for 60 1 mg tablets and that's crazy I hope this activist brand works for me I'll come back and let you guys know if I get it and how good it works thank you
Teva Or now Mylan but either one is contracted with pharmacy’s anymore! Just that Accord, which doesn’t work- I know how you feel you’re not alone. Ask your Doctor after explaining it’s (Accord) Very Low in potency-ask for higher dose, start there Best Wishes!!
