... if I stop taking it now I know and suffer from most of the side effects listed?
I have been diagnosed with kidney malfunction and it is getting worse. At the last consultation the specialist queried the time I have been taking Nexium. I have also developed Barret's esophagus which is why 4 years ago the dose of Nexium was upped to 40mg daily.
I have been taking Nexium 20mg, now increased to 40mg daily for 20 years. What can I expect to happen

I took nexium for several years. I quit taking it because I was feeling better. The only thing that happened was after a few weeks to a month after I stopped taking it my stomach problems returned. Needless to say I am back on it.
I've been on nexium for five years and just had a talk with my doctor about it a week ago. He didn't originally prescribed the nexium for me. It seems every time I stopped taking nexium my stomach starts hurting again. When I take the nexium no pain. He scheduled me for a "scope" of my stomach. He said usually it's some type of ulcer that is the problem. Originally I was prescribed the nexium because I was having a deviated septum fixed and the ENT specialist could see that my esophagus was inflamed.
