Up until 2 months ago I had been taking 20mg paroxetine (Seroxat) for more than 20 years for generalized anxiety disorder. After having a stent put in to my Carotid artery at the beginning of March I have to be on 2 types of blood thinners for at least 6 months. After going breaking out in severe spontaneous bruising my doctor discovered that paroxetine cannot be taken with the blood thinners, My neurosurgeon said that if I carry on with the paroxetine I am at serious risk of a cerebral hemorrhage so my doctor prescribed a gradual change over to 75mg of venlaxefine.
I experienced sever panic attacks during this changeover and was put on Xanax (alprazolam) until the venlaxefine kicked in. I was fine until last week when I started with panic attacks again, Back on Xanax but it is not helping and I am now also suffering from debilitating depression.
Has anyone else been able to switch successfully from paroxetine to venlaxefine?
