Every stimulant I have ever tried makes me tired, so tired that I feel like I am about to die. Cocaine,Speed,Amphetamine,Ephedrine,Adderall,Coffeine and so on. If I take a Redbull, go straight to sleep. Drink coffe, do straight to sleep. I have no symptoms of ADHD. In fact I am the opposite. That is why I have tried these things, to see if anything can make me more awake.
Why do all stimulants make me sleepy?

Gabapentin can make you very sleepy, & 300 mg is a medium dose depending how often you have to take it. I'm curious as to why you were prescribed it also, as it's most often prescribed for neurological pain management. I know it's prescribed for all kinds of off-label conditions. 600mg x 5 times a day is the max dose. I also take gabapentin & have all kinds of things going on. I have bipolar w/major depression & ADHD, so life is basically a yo-yo for me. Sometimes stimulants will knock me right out, other times they might save me from a deep depression where I become almost narcoleptic. I also take gabapentin for nerve pain, so I know it's contributing, but I experienced this before I ever had to take gabapentin, so it an exacerbation.
Go see a psychiatrist and see how they can help.
I agree with the other answer. I have ADD and stimulants make me sleepy. If I want a good nap I drink a cup of coffee. This is more common than not and may affect anyone with ADHD, ADD, and even Autism.
Hmm, I do have ADHD and that's exactly what stimulants do to me... could you possibly have ADD w/out the Hyperactivity? Not trying to push the diagnosis, I just don't know any other people, besides the ADD folk, that react this way to stimulants.
Hi, no help to you I'm afraid, but I have a similar problem, although I have not tried the 'hard' stuff I have been tempted! I have chronic fatigue and can not find a safe stimulant or anything that can give me energy. I also fall asleep not long after red bull and the like. PLEASE can anyone give me some energy tips?
P.S. Have just started Gabapentin 300mg and some days I have a boost and other days I can't get out of bed? can anyone explain/help?
May I ask what kind if specialist prescribed your Gabapentin? Do you have a diagnosis that correlates?
Did your chronic fatigue suddenly start or have you always been like this?
Asking because I am in the same boat as you. I was so frustrated not getting help I did all my own research and ended up at the endocrinologist who diagnosed me with hypercortisole/adrenal fatigue. Maybe your diagnosis isn't correct?
