I see that a lot of these posts are very old I have been taking Crestor for 2 years I can hardly walk real bad leg problems hips having issue with neck can hardly walk some days very disturbing I'm going to stop taking them any answers please reply
You can control type II diabetes with diet and exercise. However, I am surprised you are not being tested or are testing with a meter.
My docs assured me that my meds have given me diabetes. I adjust insulin every time we add or change a med. the A1c you are referring to is done periodically. It measures the past three months. the daily numbers are what will tell the true story. My last A1c was 6.7. However, the insulin and careful diet keep it there. that figure would not tell my story.
As my friend said, please provide more complete info. Whether you are heavy, lost weight, gained weight are part of the info we need as well.as well as all meds. You can put them in your profile and then it is there for anyone to review and you don't have to give it again should more questions arise.
Your A1-C's are not that bad, but what does your fasting glucose run?Do you have a genetic predisposition to diabetes etc... Need more answrs to answer your question... Mary
Ok, have you discussed this with your doctor at all? Statins can cause muscle damage, but I'm not positive about glucose rates. Yours arenot that bad in my opinion. I am not a medical professional, but my husband has type 2 diabetes . He takes statins too, & I can't convice him to stop taking them even with all the warnings out about them. I think if you have more questions, you should direct them to your doctor. Some drugs do raise glucose levels there is no doubt. My husband also takes Wellbutrin for depression, & many of those type of meds raise glucose levels I know.Statins as you know are used for high cholesterol & are given to people who are at risk of getting heart disease or stroke. New warnings have recently come out against using statins on certain individuals, & over 40mg a day. I will give you the link to read about it & also it will give you links to go further with side effects etc... Hope this helps... Mary

You wil note in the link I gave you that statins are given to people at risk of getting diabetes from high cholesterol, high blood pressure, & heart disease. It did also state if you have a low thyroid you should not be on statins... Mary
