After a great 7 year run on Zoloft with Lamictal, the Zoloft had pooped out. I'm going to start the Viibryd and step down on Zoloft over a week. The worst thing I can do when I'm down, is lose sleep. I was also interested in the effect on libido? Right now I have zilch. When I miss doses of my antidepressant it goes up but its not worth it as my anxiety goes thru the roof. Anyway any feedback is appreciated!
I am about to start Viibryd. When is the best time of day to take this to avoid insomnia?

SSRI's may not be for you. I've been through it all try to ask your doctor about Propranolol 20mg and Klonopin 1mg; take it ONLY as needed..All of them mess with your libido. Hope this helps.
I was on viibryd 40mg for over a year and it did work well for me but then about 3weeks ago it popped out on me... You should always take it in the morning at the same time every day n it needs to be taken with food it works the best that way... goodluck to you.
I recommend taking it in the morning. When I took it at night I had terrible nightmares and brain zaps.
Previously I took Zoloft. I hated the sexual side effects. For me, Viibryd has no sexual side effects. Good luck.
Hi, i just wanted to add, that it can take some time before you start to notice differences when starting Viibryd (several weeks or months). I'm not saying this to put you off, but to encourage you to keep going with it, because i know people who have had great success with it. You might find that your libido improves with time also. It isn't good to miss doses of your medication, i'm not lecturing you, just looking out for you, you need to take it regularly for it to work most effectively. I agree with the other members, take Viibryd in the morning with food. If you find that this isn't working/convenient for you, then you can switch to the evening. You must do what works best for you. I hope you find success with this.
My doctor prescribed my Viibryd to be taken when I first wake up in the morning for the very reason that it winds you up. I take 40mg. (Start at 10mg, then 20mg, then 40mg). Eventually, after about 3 weeks or so, the Viibryd won't give you that energy spurt anymore. It evens out.
Hi Lindsey, sounds like most of your questions have been answered by RonMan. I would caution you not to "miss" doses of Viibryd. It has a relatively short half-life and I think you'll find it an unpleasant experience. I agree-taking the med in the morning with food, not just milk, has been best for me also. Please keep us posted. I Best of luck.

My doctor's recommendation on taking Viibryd was in the morning with food. This has proved to be very acceptable for me.
He also quizzed me every visit for a year about libido and orgasm. In my case there has been very little impact. This is significantly different from SSRIs that I have been on in the past. Viibryd is different in this area as it is not strictly an SSRI. The details are not important.
Side effects can be difficult at first, but they seem to go away for almost everyone. Please look on this site for more information or search the Viibryd group for questions and answers.
Tapering off Zoloft in one week seems quick. I had some real issues when my doc had me do that when I switched to Viibryd. I would talk to him/her about it.
Otherwise I think you should be fine. Viibryd is excellent for Major Depression, but not so much for situational, stress or event driven depression. If you are in this group, I suspect you will have excellent results.
Good Luck,
RonMan
