Just stopped Prozac and was put on Mirtazapine. I’ve lost too much weight due to anxiety. I find that trying to keep up with normal chores causes fatigue and I have to rest(not sleep) after doing them. Also, did not need as much clonazepam for anxiety today.
Does anyone have experience with Mirtazapine and how it helps them?
When does stamina return?

Hello,
I am currently taking Remeron( Mirtazapine) for chronic insomnia at a low dose (15mg/day) and I am loving it. But, but, it can give you the munchies. Remeron is usually given to people who find it hard to gain weight. It can be prescribe off label for anxiety. However, many users do have trouble with it when treating anxiety disorders.
Ps. Have you spoken to your doctor about buspirone (BuSpar) It a non-habituating anxiolytic that can help some people with anxiety/panic disorders. I added this anti-anxiety medicine along with Paxil. It has done a tremendous job treat my anxiety symptoms. I take 20mg/day.
Tyrese
*FDA have approved low dose (7.5/15mg) of Remeron can treat insomnia.
Just started the Remeron 7.5 then next week the 15mg. Off the Prozac. Still need .25mg of clonazepam every few hours. My PCP wants to see me again in about 4 weeks... sooner if I have problems with this med. Wish I didn’t need the clonazepam, but cannot stay calm during the day without some.
Waiting for some mild temps to get out and walk in the sun. I’m hoping to get out of this depression soon. So glad you’re doing well!
Wait. How long have you been taking clonazepam for now?
You will get through this. I have my Fingers crossed for you.
I’ve used clonazepam in the past for emergencies... rarely. Since January, I have had two doctors. One psychiatrist made me go off clonazepam cold turkey and I got so anxious and ill... I then called my PCP. He has me working on the Mirtazapine. I’m sleeping well but mornings are very difficult for me. I usually need about 0.5mg of clonazepam a day. Start with 0.25mg and add another 0.25mg if the anxiety is too strong. I try hard not to use it although I could take up to 2mg a day. Have never gone that high. I’m feeling a bit like a failure in getting out of this condition. My PCP says I will eventually feel better. It’s a challenge!
You will get better soon. It took approximately 3-4 months for my symptoms to improve. But you should definitely speak with your doctor about adding another medication to help you during the daytime, since Remeron is taken at nighttime.
