I'm not sure if you mean you have pain not associated with a medication or if you think your pain is a side effect of the venlafaxine.
Can you maybe clarify that so that we can give you better answers? Also, how long have you been taking venlafaxine? Use the comment button just below.
Thanks and best regards.
I have been on venlafaxine 75mg ER since April 2019. Since then constipation abdominal pain getting worse. I have had muscle and joint pain prior to this but it has gotten worse. These are rare adverse effects of this med. I see my doctor on Sept. 10. I am a retired RN. I want to discuss a switch to another SSRI with pain relieving properties as well as one that has a low potential of causing a seizure. They all lower seizure threshold. Venlafaxine is one of the worst. Amitriptyline may oversedate me. I dont take very many meds. I take 75mg twice daily topiramate but am seizure free. Thank you.
Look into Cymbalta which is an SSNRI.
"Very rare (less than 0.01% of users): Electric shock-like sensation, seizures"
Cymbalta is used in adults to treat nerve pain caused by diabetes (diabetic neuropathy), chronic muscle or joint pain (such as low back pain and osteoarthritis pain) and fibromyalgia. I don't know how effective it might be for abdominal pain but it might be worth bringing up in your conversation with your doctor.
Good luck and I hope you're feeling better very soon.
Thank you. The seizure risk is 0.2 to 0.3%. My topiramate is low but it has a negative psychotropic effect. Anti depressants also have anti convulsing properties because becoming very depressed is a seizure precip. I will discuss Cymbalta wildcatvet.
