I'm scheduled to start Spravato at the end of this week. I'm almost 65 and I can't believe I can't navigate a successful life without medicine. I was in a really hard marriage for 25 years & that's when I was prescribed Depression & Anxiety Medicines. 40 years later and I am not able to handle my life in the way I need to. Medicines are not helping right now and I've been able to get off some. This is sooo hard. I have so many headaches, insomnia, an autoimmune deficiency and worst of all, I'm so emotional and organizationally challenged. ;).I feel ashamed I can't just get with it. Any experiences or thoughts on Spravato. I love my family & God & I'm blessed in so many ways. Don't know if I need Spravato or something else. Boot Camp for the overly Sensitive? Oy... Thank you for thoughts!

Spravato works for depression. You’ll feel light headed, probably best to close your eyes and listen to some music with a resonant base (I personally like Stephen Halpern’s “Om Zone” or Nimrod by Elgar - as opposed to Swedish death metal). You might even feel as if you are floating and one with the universe. You will probably see some swirling colours or other mild visual hallucinations that make me think of fractals. It’s a pleasant experience. I’ve no idea if Spravato works for anxiety. The literature is beginning to show support for the anecdotal observations (and my personal observations) that Spravato might be the product of some very good chemistry, but it is ultimately a product of the inability to make a profit selling ketamine, and thus unwillingness to pay for clinical trials. Bottom line Spravato/esketamine has much lower efficacy than ketamine itself. Once the cost of medicine plus facility plus clinician is considered (even with good insurance) a ketamine infusion is more immediately effective, lasts longer, and is comparably priced at about $400/infusion
