I have had a rash on both lower legs for some time and although it didn't start immediately I suspected methyldopa. I am 77 and immobile. Recently the dose has been doubled and the rash is worse. Before this I asked if it could be lymphedema and I am waiting a doppler test prior to having compression stockings but I still suspect methyldopa.
Skin Rash - Where on the body do rashes from methyldopa appear and can you describe the rash please?

Hi, Whitbyfan!
I found this in a publication of the National Institutes of Health:
"Methyldopa can induce eczematous eruptions on hands and feet, a lichenoid eruption, a lupus erythematosus-like eruption, or purpura."
I thought it might be helpful?
Hi Wildcat Thank you for taking the time to look this up for me, I will follow that up. Had no luck myself - although since then I have been told by the pharmacist that skin reactions are common with Methyldopa. Thanks again. Kind regards.
