I have been taking Prozac for 10 days now, and I just had this reaction yesterday. I checked with the pharmacist, because I often have allergic reactions to things that I really don't even know what caused them, and her main concern was anaphylaxis. As I was not having any trouble breathing, I decided to stay on the Prozac to see if this will work itself out. I was wondering if anyone else had the itchiness/rash, that went away over time?

Yes, I have been on 10 mg of Prozac for 5 months and have had very itchy scalp with small welts behind my ears and rash on chest. Been telling doctors about it & no one thinks it has anything to do with taking Prozac. I think it does & don't know what to do. My dosage was just increased 4 days ago and I feel awful. Please let me know what you find out from your doctor. Wish you the best.

Hi Crisly - When I checked with my doctor and pharmacist, they told me since I was not having any trouble breathing or swallowing, that if I wanted to stay on it to see if the side effect diminished, that I could. I am now 3-1/2 weeks out, and luckily, my rash is almost gone now, as is the itchiness. If the rash started when you began taking the Prozac, or shortly thereafter, it could be a side effect, and is listed as a potential side effect. The produce information pamphlet that they provided with the medicine specifically said that if you develop a rash, especially on the head or neck, that you should seek medical attention. I get reactions for so many things, that I thought I would give it a chance. With that being said, had it continued for months, I would have asked to be put on a different med. Please know that I am not a doctor, and nothing that I said should be construed as medical advice. Good luck with it... I hope that you are able to get this resolved.

Along with its needed effects, fluoxetine (the active ingredient contained in Prozac) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Ty for your answer, I called pdoc and was told not to take anymore n taking benedryl n hydrocortisone cream, this was prescribed forPMDD, now got to find another med for these miserable feeling, ty
