I was for 8 years on paroxetine but stopped working, so my Dc weaned me off and put me on sertraline gradually.
The taper was 5mg each week and the sertraline introduction was 50mg per week.
Total time on Sertriline is 6 weeks.
I am 14 days off paroxetine and 3 weeks on sertraline 200.
My anxiety is the same, as before sertraline, quite severe may one say, I can manage a 6-hour sleep and sometimes I do have cry spells. I also have diarrhea for a month now. Xanax 0.25 doesn't seem to work at all.
I wonder if I have withdrawal from paroxetine, or side effects from sertraline or is my anxiety or maybe all together. Is there anyone with the same situation as mine?
Thank you in advance.
Sertraline - From paroxetine to sertraline. Is it such a torture?

I wish you well with this transition.
Sadly I went through something similar and in the end I had to go back on paroxetine.
Just remember everyone is different but here is my story.
I was given eight days to taper off 30 years of paroxetine. Somehow I managed this but then I had to spend two weeks without any drugs. It was at this point I fell apart and required hospital admission. I was agitated anxious restless and couldn’t go out alone.
After admission I was put straight on to sertraline and although it helped I never felt really well. After 6 months I was put back on paroxetine and given 12 ect
All in all a very difficult time for me and not one I wish to repeat.
paroxetine had worked well for me over many years but it doesn’t really keep me well anymore.
Fingers crossed you can find a good balance of drugs and become stable again.
