I’ve been on sertraline for a total of 16 days now, with 10 of those days being on 50mg. I had side effects of feeling like everything was a dream and kind of derealization. After about day 10 it started to go away and I actually felt pretty good and somewhat like my old self.
However, today I woke up and I feel that same derealization feeling again. Has anyone else experienced this side effect on and off again? Other than that I feel like the medication is working as my anxiety has been lower and I haven’t had a panic attack in over a week. Any input/personal experiences will be helpful

Vic,
We call it the "roller coaster effect"... side effects come and go as your metabolism is adjusting to the medication. It's usually pretty short-lived but scary when you don't know what's going on.
It's good to hear you're doing so well otherwise! Many people start to feel improvement in the first two weeks so you're right on schedule.
Take care,
It is good news that you are starting to feel better, albeit having had a few episodes of derealisation.
Stress and anxiety are the primary causes of derealisation, and women are twice as likely to experience it as men. Some believe it is the bodies way of coping during periods of extreme stress.
I am not sure whether or not it is a side effect of Zoloft as I have no knowledge in this. Hopefully someone can chime in who knows more.
