I attempted a gabapentin taper over a year ago. The symptoms were unbearable and I had to stop and return to the original dose. The symptoms continued however and my doctor had to change some of my other meds and add some new ones before I was stable again. I suffered for almost a year and I dread going through a second taper. I was told that a second taper would be more effective. Is this true?
Is a second gabapentin taper more effective than the first attempted taper?

Answers
It would be helpful if you would describe the unbearable symptoms. Did you get anxious? Was the pain more intense? Any other reactions to the tapering of the drug?
