Greetings, today I had an appointment with the psychiatrist and he prescribed buspar 5mg twice a day for anxiety, but it worries me because I take 15mg of mirtazapine and 2mg of lorazepam to sleep and it appeared to me on the Internet that it is not good to mix buspar with mirtazapine. Is it safe to take all the medicines?
Does is safe to take buspar with mirtazapine?

Hi, Stella!
Yes, there are a couple of possible interactions... one with lorazepam and buspirone (BuSpar) which could cause dizziness and/or dizziness. Another with lorazepam and mirtazapine which you already take also potentially causing dizziness and drowsiness.

The major concern is with mirtazapine and buspirone which very rarely causes a condition know as serotonin syndrome in a few people. This link will tell you more about serotonin syndrome:

If your doctor prescribed the buspirone then likely they have determined that the benefit of the combination outweighs the risks.
Best regards and I hope this helps.
