I did NOT refrigerate the eye drops before I opened them. Are they still good ? My pharmacist didn't tell me & I just read it on the outside of the box. This is our first time using this brand ,Azasite & I never refrigerated eye drops before ,thus my big mistake. Any insight what I should do ? Can I use them anyways ?
thanks,
Deb

Hello moma4. I researched your question ( I am not a chemist) and agree with the latter's answer. Regards pledge
While Azasite is being stored in the Pharmacy it must be stored in the fridge. Once it is dispensed it may be stored at room temperature (assuming it is to be used immediately) and discarded 14 days after opening.
Instilling a cold eye drop straight from the fridge will sting.
In answer to your question yes they are still good. There is no need for you to store them in the fridge. Any portion that is left after 14 days must be discarded.
These are fairly standard storage instructions for most (but not all) antibiotic eyedrops.
I would check with the pharmacist. I don't understand why you refrigerate when unopened but not when opened. This is why I say read everything you get from the pharmacist including the label.
