Hi ala1978. Gabapentin and other drugs like it are being sold and taken on the streets. I read it in the news. It makes the strength of the medication they take it with stronger. These are very dangerous drugs! I am slowly tapering off Cymbalta now. I can’t wait to get this drug out of my body and my life!
I am on cymbalta and dislike the way it makes me feel. Dizzy, blurred vision, hard time sleeping and it makes me feel like i am in a fog. I take 30 mgs a day. I told my dr i didnt want to be on it but have got no response from her.
Hi Layken. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. I was taking Lyrica for 7-8 years and Cymbalta for 8-9 years. My life was spent in bed for most of those years. I was always energetic and always on the go. I was always a small woman even after having 5 children. I started gaining weight after starting these drugs and I started at 110-120 pounds and I ended up being over 200 pounds. I looked like I was 7 months pregnant. My hair was falling out, my eyes were blurry and I was losing my hearing. I was always over sweating and I had to have fans on me all the time; even in the winter time. I used to love being in the sun; but I can’t stand it for even a few minutes now. There are many more things that I could add but I think you get the idea. Finally I started to do research on these medications and I realized that many people were going through the same thing I was. I am completely off Lyrica now and I’ve tapered down from 60 mg of Cymbalta to 8 mg now.
Almost all the side effects are gone! I still can’t handle the heat. I have started to lose a bit of weight; but most people say that they lose it when they are completely off Lyrica, Cymbalta or Gabapentin. These drugs are poison (IMO). The doctors are giving them out like candy. They don’t realize what they are doing. If you decide to go off Cymbalta please don’t just quit taking it! You have to taper off slowly. It is suggested (in the group on Facebook called ‘Cymbalta Hurts Worse’) to taper at 10% every two weeks. There are over 13,000 of us going through the same thing as you are. Please take care and I wish you the best. Cindy
Sorry I forgot to mention that I was so dizzy that I had two horrible falls. Once I fell backwards down a flight of stairs. Another time I fell and broke my leg. I had many other falls but thankfully nothing was broken. I remember you said something about being in a fog and that is one of the main complaints about this drug. These medications change who we are and I realized that I was the only one who could get ‘me’ back. So that’s why I started tapering. It’s been a long and very hard process; but it will be worth it in the end.
I heard that as well. I take 3200mgs a day and was wondering why they made it a controlled substance.
Bc people have been and are abusing it!
Some people get what they describe as a "high" from it. That doesn't mean that everyone will experience the same sensations. As far as I can tell, it is only classified as a controlled substance in certain states. I don't see it on the DEA list of controlled substances. Check with your state.
