Is promethazine pill (round white K3 on it) a narcotic/controlled substance? And whether or not, will it make me fail a drug screen? I am really needing to know the answer to this ASAP, so ANY and ALL help is greatly needed and appreciated! — As for a bit of context, I undergo Pain Management, through not only meditations, but therapy and surgeries as well. Just for some clarity, I DO NOT abuse or misuse any medications i am given. Now, on top of all of this, I just recently had to get emergency help for an abscessed tooth. I was prescribed some antibiotics called “clindamycim” for the painful infection! Which, isn’t what I’m worried about or why I’m asking this question. The main reason I am asking this question is because I had gotten so very nauseous, followed by a TERRIBLE migraine that had me puking up for HOURS after my first couple of days taking the antibiotic. I tried eating more, even tried the nasty pink Pepto stuff, etc. I looked through my medicine cabinet and was lucky enough to find one last (half of 25mg) of an old prescription of “promethazine” I’d had left over from a while ago (as in before my Pain Management, I believe), and It DID help, thank goodness!! However, now I’m worried that it may make me fail my regular normal drug testing routines I have to go do on the 15th of Feb this month (2024). That’s barely a couple of days from now and I just took that to help today after 5PM, on the 13th of Feb (2024). Will I get in trouble or get thrown out over something like that for being nauseated and throwing up? I live in Georgia, USA. Is promethazine a narcotic controlled substance? Gosh, I already struggle with Chronic and Acute Anxiety followed by Panic Attacks, S.A.D (Social anxiety disorder), etc! Should I be worried? Please answer and help?

"Promethazine is an older antihistamine. People usually take it as promethazine hydrochloride, a more stable salt form of the drug. Promethazine is not a narcotic, but it is a controlled substance. As a result, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration identifies it as having a higher-than-normal risk of abuse."

I suggest for your peace of mind to contact;
Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency to clarify 100% your doubt with the status of Promethazine in your state.
Although my personal opinion is that as I mentioned before if the DEA considers it a controlled substance that would lead me to believe it is in the 50 states.
