So I am a 40 year old woman who was diagnosed with ADHD about 3 years ago. Was put on Strattera but that never worked for me so my dr decided to put me on 10 mg of regular Adderall which did absolutely nothing, so I had to wait a whole month for something else, then he put me on ER 27mg concerta and today 3/8/25 makes 6 days on it and I have had no results from it what so ever. Not even any side effects besides loss of appetite. I called the drs office back and spoke to the nurse and told her I had been told by a pharmacist and by looking it up that it should only take about an hour to kick in but she told me no it doesn’t and to wait till Friday, yesterday to see if it does anything but still nothing. I still have all my ADHD symptoms it hasn’t helped any of them. Has anyone else had this problem where it took a while like a week or two to start working? And like I’ve said I’ve already been on regular Adderall and nothing either. Does anyone know of any better ones especially one that may help with more focus and energy? I don’t understand why they are not working cause I definitely do have ADHD but nothing seems to be helping. Just wondering if anyone else has had these issues or it took a bit longer to start working? Thanks so much!!

An 18 mg or 27 mg dose is often insufficient for most adults, particularly those with higher body weights. You may consider increasing the dosage to 36 mg or even up to 54 mg per day, taken in the morning, after consulting your doctor. If these adjustments do not provide the desired effect, you should discuss with your health care provider about potentially switching to a different medication.
Thank you !!
