I have had a lot of meds change in the last few months due to side effects. I am having severe anxiety, panic attacks, irritability, crying spell. I started Prozac 20 mg about 12 days ago. I am having some weird sensation that I have a hard time to describe. I dont know if its dizziness or lightheaded but I dont feel myself. Sometimes nausea, fatigue. I still have to rely on clonazepam more than I like. I'm hoping it will get better. I will talk to my psychiatrist tomorrow.
Prozac - When will this get better need advice please?

Hey Mia1221,
Those side effects are common. Give the medication at least another week for your body to get adjusted to the dose. 20mg is a low dose, so your symptoms should subside within a couple of weeks. Hang in there and stay strong.
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer. I got chest infection but was already feeling better mentally but today not so much. I was a little disappointed but hopefully tomorrow is a better day :)
How is your anxiety? Is Prozac decreasing your symptoms?
Hi Tyrese,
Sorry it took me a little time to figure out on which site I had posted questions. I think it is helping my anxiety but the thing is I got chest infection and then my brother came to visit for 5 days and unfortunately he is not good for my anxiety and stress level. So I still have headache, nausea and diarrhea and I'm hoping it can still subside even though I started Peozac on Nov 9. My duty to accommodate at work at coming to an end and I'm hoping to be stabilize with my meds as much as possible before the training continues. Thanks for any help ! Melanie
Hey again,
I’m sorry to hear about your chest infection. Make sure you’re getting enough fluid in you and plenty of rest. If symptoms still last for a couple days, seek a pulmonologist. Get a checkup and don’t make the chest infection get worse.
To help with the diarrhoea, you can take probiotics supplements or get it naturally from yogurt. It has help improve my digestive tract cause I had really bad constipation and mild diarrhoea while on Paxil. The probiotic has help tremendously. Also Make sure your taking Prozac with food to feel less nauseous. Stay safe.
Are you still taking 20mg?
Yes dear 20 mg... I'm not sure if an increase would be appropriate as I get irritable still. I'm super sensitive and my brother here was too much stimulation. I dont feel good at all. There is enough stress at work and I'm doing all I can to stabilize myself but it's hard. Thanks for your reply !
Sincerely
Melanie
Take care of yourself and stay strong. I hope you feel better soon.
I had a bad panic attack and I'm surprised that I was able to go for a walk. What takes me 30 min took me 45 min. I was freezing and still had some more panic when I got home. I think it was the accumulation of stress. Thanks for answering me i appreciate. You are the only one :)
It hurts to see you like this, feel free to post your concerns. I’ll be here if you need me. I’m hoping that one day you’ll reply and say “ hey Tyrese I’m feeling better now” lol.
Stay safe amigo.
Aww you are nice. I just hope it's an accumulation of stress with my brother visiting and he is stressing me out and adjusting to Prozac. It takes a long time to adjust to on and continue working etc. You know ? Thanks friend
It takes time to get adjusted to these medication. The Hardest part is always starting, once you get it out of the way. The rest is up to you to keep pushing forward.
So you think I can still be hopeful for the side effects ( if they are related to it) and the anxiety to subside still ? Sometimes they say 6 weeks. But to weeks for the side effects that why I was wondering. Thxs dear
It can roughly take 6-8 weeks for full effect. It depends on your metabolism and the right amount of dose to reach it therapeutic level for it to treat your anxiety. Your probably older and your different from me, but, I’m hoping that Prozac will be the medication to help you out. Stress and anxiety can be frustrating.
Yes but dont they say 2 weeks for side effects to subside ? I'm 41 lol is that old lol

Hi Tyrese,
I'm trying to put words on how I feel. I think I feel irritated and overwhelmed easily can it be related to anxiety ? For example, I was serving a client at work and my colleague is far enough but can still listen to our conversation so she is helping through skype but without saying anything, she comes over and take over. I'm being told to stay calm and focus on the client but I have a hard time not to show my frustration. My brother came over for 5 days and my stress got through the roof. So I dont know if I'm exhausted or I need an increase of Prozac. I dont want to rely on clonazepam. I dont know if you know what i mean. I still get emotional and I feel I'm going crazy, especially at work when things don't make sense to me. I get frustrated. I feel I'm going crazy. Thanks for any help <3
Heyy!!
Yes getting easily irritated and overwhelming can be signs of anxiety. Wait, how long have you been taking Prozac now? If you’re taking it for at least 6 weeks now and experience no improve maybe you need a higher dose or maybe try a different AD. If the higher dose causes bad reactions that indicates Prozac is not the right medication for you.
You’re right, relying on benzodiazepines long term can cause addiction.
You said that your still experiencing chest infection, diarrhoea, headache and nausea. I don’t wanna suggest you to take a higher dose , since you’re still experiencing symptoms. It might be risky. Let your doctor know how your feeling before increasing.
