I took promethazine 6.25 mg oral cough syrup for ten days, mostly 2 ml per night, using the oral syringe. I stopped taking it a few days ago and noticed a severe bout of insomnia. Will this wear off soon? Has anyone else experienced this? The pharmacist assured me it should be out of my system in 40 hours and it is not addictive.

YES, I took it for nausea and severe Insomnia for 20 years. Worked amazing. Then one day I had a severe allergic reaction to it and put me in psychosis. The pharmacist is correct, in 2 days you will be back to normal. I am also a pharmacist and run into this issue with customers all the time. Very strong Antihistamine. Your brain just has to reset itself. Hope you sleep well soon...
