I filled the above Rx's but have not taken them yet. After reading of the dangers of taking ACE inhibitors along with Allopurinol I am reluctant to take them.
I was prescibed 100mg allopurinol (for gout) along with Lisinopril 20/hctz 25 (for HTN)Is this safe?

I am reluctant to take them together since I read about the possible dangers listed here on Drugs.com. The pharmacist said nothing about it, nor did the licenced provider who prescribed them for me.

You could read the interactions between the meds that you would take here: https://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=127-0,1257-0,1476-0
Please do discuss it with your doc/pharmacist, take care.
Best wishes!
I take both of these meds and while my BP stays normal I still have gout attacks just fewer. Taking Oxycodone 10/325 3 times a day for chronic back pain and it does nothing for gout pain. In the past I just rode out the storm and told my gf just to ignore my attitude until it passes. Now I have been up and down all night with my back and foot driving me to the point of no return, I guess meaning I'm ready to amputate my damn foot. That's not going to happen, just saying. Any suggestions?
I haven't had any reactions taking these two meds together. Keep in mind we are all different.
Thank you both so much, I am holding off on the Alloprinol until I get a response from my doctor. I am taking the Lisinopril/HCTZ, started two days ago and don't care for the side effects (dizzy, loopy, etc).
@Jmike believe me I know how bad Gout pain can get!!! That's why I finally went to the DR and now I don't really know if Allopurinol is a good answer. I also got Indomethacin and that helped with the swelling/pain. In the past I was able to control Gout flares with just diet choices alone-only getting one or two a year- but as I get older they have become more frequent and painful. So, my only suggestion for you for Gout is to try hot packs and then ice packs rotating them each hour. You already take a strong narcotic pain killer, so I don't know what else your MD would give you.
Don't give up educating yourself on your meds. The only stupid questions are the ones never asked. Too much experience on these sites to not find info. Take care and we're always hoping for the best possible relief for all.
I take both and I am fine. Have been taking for a long time! Did you ask your doc? You should be fine!
