Hi Pamuam,
I have been on Lyrica (Pregabalin) since 2008 for Fibromyalgia & it is helping me. Taking a total of 100mg daily! Some weight gain is one of the side effects, depending on the dosage! You are on a very small dose!
Give it a little more time or speak w/your prescribing doctor if you feel it is not helping you. I see my Rheumatologist every (6) month for pain assessment. So far, the dosage has not been increased. Lyrica is not designed for anxiety, but it makes you tired. I take other medications for insomnia, depression & anxiety.
Take care & feel better!
Hi Pamuam. I took Lyrica for 7-8 years and it never helped me with anything. It only made me worse. I took it for chronic nerve pain but it caused me to have confusion, anxiety and depression. I forgot words and how to spell them. I gained over 80 pounds during this time. Some of this was water weight. I was miserable with the bloating and I looked and felt like I was pregnant. I had to wear maternity clothes. I was always small even after having 5 children; until Lyrica. Many people have experienced this bloating and never got rid of it or the weight gain until completely tapered off. Even though you’ve only been taking this drug for two weeks make sure you taper off slowly. The withdrawals symptoms are a nightmare if you go too fast. Many doctors really don’t know how dangerous it can be to go off them too fast. Take care and best wishes to you. Cindy
Probably not, as it is a little known side effect of this drug.
It won't go away until it's stopped. Consult your doctor before you stop taking it, and definately let him know!
