Answers
Yes, sometimes they do order an eye drop type medication as a topical antibiotic for the ears.
It will not treat a middle ear infection however, it is only for infection in the ear canal like "swimmers ear"
I know it sounds like its wrong, but when my daughter was small, she had a fungus infection in her ears and the ENT ordered an eye drop for it. I must have given him a funny look because he explained it won't hurt and there isn't anything better for it for the ears. So I'd say if the dr ordered it, he must know what he's doing. If in doubt on meds check with the pharmacist.
