You should have an appetite of some sort while on it- your dose may be too high to start. If you find that you aren't eating your minimum amount of calories (1200-1500) a day then you may need to go to a lower dose to start or you are being counter productive as when you go into starvation mode you don't lose anything either. If in the first week you don't get to eating your minimum calories talk to your doctor about decreasing your dose for a while until you feel like your appetite "comes back" and then she can increase it back again. Better to start smaller and go bigger than go big and not have an increase to go to later. If you are already on the lowest dose, then you need to basically optimize your calories and pick higher calorie foods such as eggs and even higher fat/cal dressings (but in small portions)sometimes to get food in without stuffing yourself so when you do get an appetite back going lower cal but not smaller portion is covered. Just tricks I used and still use on days I dont want to eat but need to hit my minimums.
Thank you! That was helpful I'll Look Into It
I started yesterday on phentermine. i have little to no appetite also But i force myself to eat. I still try to stay under 1200cals/day. Its not hard at all since i take a few bites and am done with it. Food almost disgusts me as odd as that may sound. I have a ton of energy and dry mouth Are the only two side effects im dealing with. Oh and headache yesterday but im pretty sure that was bc indidnt drink enough water. My goal is to lose 10lbs/month.

The dry mouth/"metal" mouth stays and is part of the effect to not make you eat, but yes, you MUST be sure to drink more than 8 glasses of water ever day. Not only because of the meds, but also because it helps carry away more garbage. More water in means more weight gone. I would still aim for 1200 a day. This is one that less calories a day will not equal more weight loss. Even with phentermine, you need to still nourish, especially if you added exercise. I have been losing 10 ish a month w/o drugs for the last 7 months. I understand now that what I dis wrong on phentermine was starve myself instead of use it for appetite control if that makes sense. Food is gross on it and it is hard to eat, but I never lost more than 2-3 a month on it even if I was only eating less than 1000 cal a day and working out non stop. I have been on phen-fen, meridia, phendimetrizine and none worked. Now I just use the sparkpeople.com app to track food along with changes.
I wish I had it when I was on phentermine! Then I really would have slaughtered!
However you do it, lots of water, commitment and exercise are key. I also think your goal wrights are some of the most awesomely realistic numbers I have seen posted and I know you will CONQUER those numbers with or without a drug as I hear sheer determination and motivation in your voice!!! You go nail that first goal!
Yes! Same with me I forced myself to eat and it taste like nothing
