Mine is more of a question and is why I looked up this subject: Norco seems to make me nauseous even when taken with good whereas Percocet doe not. anyone else experience anything similar? I rarely take either one and the times I have were: Percocet after surgery for pain
Norco when I broke my ankle and after oral surgery and occasionally for bad back.
I have a torn rotator cuff now very painful but getting nauseous from Norco is almost worse than the pain of my shoulder!
NORCO is Hydrocodone, PERCOCET is Oxycodone. Norco is the go-to drug for Back Pain in most cases, but can cause Anxiety Attacks, Itchy Skin (like codeine), and other conditions in some patients. Percocet is easier on the nervous system with little side affects, and some doctors say it is Buffered? In my personal opinion, (I am NOT a Physician), I've been taking 2-5/325 Percocet for about four years. I was started out on Norco 5/325 in Pain Management, then was increased to 10/325. After several Spine Injections the pain came back with a vengeance. The Norco had little affect on my pain, and I suffered from the Panic Attacks. They also made me feel terrible, Fuzzy Headed, Flu like, etc. I was tired of the painful injections, so I quit P.M. and went to my Physician. He had been my doctor for a long time and prescribed me Percocet 5/325, one in the am and one at bedtime.
I almost overnight finally had major relief of my two Herniated Discs in my Lower Back, and a Ruptured Disc between my Shoulders. It also helped my Sciatica Pain. Opioids affect everyone differently and can be a Blessing or a Nightmare depending on your metabolism. I hope this helped.
The percocet is definitely stronger as far as the chemical make up goes. But, everyone is different when it comes to how our bodies absorb the medication. I personally have been on both at one time or another. I PREFER the percocet, but because I have lost my insurance, I can no longer afford the percocet. So, I make do with the Norco. And MOST days, it's enough.
Percocet is stronger.
Norco is hydrocodone, percocet is oxycodone. Percocet is stronger then norcos.
After reading all this I'm now worried about the change my doctor put into place today. I have progressive MS and I've never asked for any different kind of medication but my doctor felt that I was becoming immuned so to speak to the Norco I took one of the Percocet 10 325 just like the Norco and now I'm stressed because I didn't know it was Stronger I think doctors should be more up front with their patience when changing medication I know this doesn't answer anybody's question but I had to put something in here because I'm so worried
To Donnasusan1422, I'm sorry to hear that you are worried. Unfortunately, in most cases, we as the patient must do our own research about things, including medicine. As I said before, percacet is stronger ( chemically) than Norco. It is true that your body becomes adjusted to a medicine over time, ESPECIALLY pain medication. That is why most dramatic. adjust or change meds. If you are very worried, talk to your Dr. Let him/ her know how you feel. If they are not concerned about the change, use caution with the meds. But remember, everyone is different. But, stress can and will cause problems, even if your body can handle the new meds.
