I have been with my partner for 2 years now, when we got together I knew he was on subutex n I have helped him cut down, n now he is only on 2mg a day he is going into detox in a 6 weeks, he has had a problem with subutex for nearly 11 years.
When we got together he said he didn't have a sex drive, I was a bit gutted but I loved him n happy to go through it, we rarely have sex and if we do its very quick and as a 28yr old woman I have a high sex drive, so I hope after the detox it will go back to normal. Has any1 had the same problem please get back to me thanks :) I would like to know ur storys thanks.
Will my partners sexdrive come back after subutex??

hi sugar ray,the sad truth about opiates is that in the beginning sex is amazing.or at least it seems to be.opiates affect a mans ability to reach orgasm at a normal rate. the normal rate by the way is only a few seconds to a few minutes. only through practice and patients can this time be extended.believe me when i tell you foreplay is very importent in the process of sex,making love or whatever you want to call it.communication with your partner is where its gotta start.when your bf is done with subutex thats when you both can start working on the sex part of your relationship.just let me say this,he is a very lucky man to have a woman like you who cares enough to ask these questions.just be patient and communicate with each other.i hope this helps you both.subzero58

Story is very familiar to me im 32m married since 09 met my wife in 05 thats when our addiction slowly started to snowball. Your with your mate for 2yrs. was sex ever there you said he has been on sub for 11yrs not trying to be personal but my wife and I just weaned off suboxone so i honestly know your situation. 11yrs is a long time your partner probably has opiate induced LOW T diminished testosterone.
Now as far as going to a detox i'm sure i can get him off buprinorphin (subutex) without pain of detox center trust me i can help him if he is willing im not a Dr. so take it or leave it get back to me i know i can help.
As far as sex life re-emerging, it will be there if you are patent and you's both are in love with one-another! Abruptly stopping this drug is not a good idea at all (like in a detox) unless he is shooting- up the sub! Then he needs help any how this drug is a long acting opioid with crazy long w/d syndrome.
I know how to make it much shorter and milder dont think it is a cake walk but sounds like you are a good support system for him! tty soon?

hi russ, thanks 4 getting back to me, the only problem I have is I haven't told him I wrote on here, :( I think he feels enough pressure on himself cos he doesn't have a libido, when we got together he said he never had a feel for it n he haven't had a gf ora sexual relationship for a few years, if we have been out n had a drink that is rarely but when we do he is wild ;) loool,
We get alone amazingly I love him n I woul never even dream bout cheating on him, I'm willing to not have sex if that's the case but of course I would love it with him, I have never taken drugs or anything so I don't know how hard it is for him or any1 in his situation, but I do try,
In the detox they are giving him lofexidine to help him n he will be in there 4 2 weeks, maybe I sould talk to him bout u n see whay he says,
Its nice to talk to some 1 that is understanding n been there cos I don't really like to talk about it to him, cos I know he's not happy with it himself :)

Hey totally get that its a very personal subject for you and him i know cause i'm sorta like him my wife and i are more bf than lovers and it hasn't always been like that i get worried went from one extreme to a lot of distance in the bedroom due to me. I don't think opiates killed her drive as much as mine and it sucks to think of the consequences of that know what i mean. we have been living together since 05 so its slightly different situation.
Anyhow, let him know that you were concerned about him did research and found people in similar circumstances. But he can avoid detox and more chemicals to twist him up unless he is using a needle there isn't one person that needs detox from subutex and unless you are there 10hrs. a day at detox for 48days its gunna eat him up inside I couldn't imagine it!
I can tell you the first steps he must take to stop the subs. First he must go cold turkey for 2-3 days before he can re-induce back onto the subs and he will not have to take but 1/3 to 1/2 of previous amount and 5-7 days later he can easily reduce again by 25% think about telling him tty soon.
