I just got a script with sod dr and it is not working well at all. My last script was sod ter, both 40 mg and the latter works beautifully!

The abbreviation sod dr means sodium (salt) and dr means delayed release.
The abbreviation sod ter means sodium (salt) and ter stands for tablet extended release. Another abbreviation for extended release is XR.
The Pantoprazole sod dr means the drug has a coating that prevents it from releasing in your stomach and has it release the medication in your intestines. It keeps a certain level of medication in your body but for less time... meaning you are taking more pills and possibly raising your chances of suffering more side effects.
The Pantoprazole sod ter means the tablet is coated with a substance that keeps the drug in your body longer and this may help you take less pills and lessens you suffering from side effects.
I never took Pantoprazole. I use generic Nexium which is Esomeprazole 40 mg. It has magnesium in it. When I used Omeprazole it did not work for me. As your doctor for the Esomeprazole, and see if that one helps you. Hope this information helps you.
