I was put on oxycodone/APAP recently. Before I went to get my oxycodone/APAP Rx filled, I did some research to see if there really was a difference in the different brands of generic oxycodone. From what I read, there is apparently a difference, and in some cases a big difference, in the effectiveness of the various generics. Endocet, which is the generic of the brand Percocet; both are made by Endo. Essentially Endocet is Percocet as both are made by the same company but under different brand names. Endocet is very good and effective generic brand of oxycodone/APAP. Also Watson brand of generic oxycodone/APAP is very good too. From my research then, the best bets for filling an Rx for oxycodone/APAP were either Endo or Watson generic brand of oxycodone. Also did you know that you can call a pharmacy and ask what generic brand of med they sell as well as the price for the number of pills you have in the Rx.. When I called the pharmacy, they always told me the particular brand of generic drug they sell, for the medicine I had a prescription for and they told me the price as well for the number of pills in my Rx. So you can shop over the phone, that is, by calling one to several pharmacies, if you want, in order to get information on the brand of generic and the price of the med in your Rx. You can then decide on the best pharmacy to take your Rx into in order to get it filled.
Endocet was farmed out to Par Pharmaceuticals recently as a generic for Endocet after lawsuits against Pharmaceutical companies.
I'm not surprised to hear of Par Pharmaceuticals purchasing Endocet from Purdue. After many states Attorney Generals went after Purdue in court and won, then Purdue had to declare bankruptcy (I don't know if Purdue declared Chapter 11 or Chapter 13). Anyway Lee, thanks for the updated info concerning Par Pharmaceuticals taking over Endocet. I would love to be able to get Endocet generic brand of Oxycodone-APAP. If I am not mistaken (and I admit that I could have my fact wrong here) but I think Par Pharmaceuticals makes the Qualitest generic brand of meds. Endocet was not available here in any pharmacy around here where I live. The only time I was able to get Endocet-APAP (APAP is shorthand for acetaminophen) was when I was in the hospital, then upon my release from my hospital stay, the hospital pharmacy filled the doctor's script for me with Endocet Oxycodone-APAP. This hospital's pharmacy was and is not open to the public.
They would only fill a doctor's scripts for their patients being discharged, as a courtesy and convenence to that patient. The Endocet worked great while it lasted. Then I went back to that doctor for a follow-up appointment. The doctor gave me another script for Oxy-APAP. Then I had to take that script to a local pharmacy, and I discovered and was disappointed at the quality of the Oxycodone-APAP pills from that pharmacy, as these pain pills were not as good (as far as pain relief goes) as the Endocet-APAP that I got from the hospital pharmacy when I was discharged. Now I know of a couple of pharmacies here locally that dispense Qualitest generic brand of meds. But I could never find any pharmacies here that dispensed Endocet generic brand of pain meds. So Lee thank you for the info. Now that you've informed me that Par Pharmaceuticals owns Endocet, then maybe in the near future. I will be able to find the Endocet brand of Oxycodone-APAP at some of the local pharmacies here.
