It's amazing how no-one has given the correct information for this question!! Google naproxen and read the ingredients plus the side effects of using Naproxen.. Naproxen DOES contain ASPRIN!! People who have allergies to asprin could have some side effects from naproxen.. The worst being lips, tongue, and throat swelling!! I was told before becoming a nurse that naproxen doesn't contain any asprin products.. WRONG!! I had to be care flighted and put on a vent for 36 hrs all bc a medical professional didn't do her job by actually looking up the drug she had given me and verifying the ingredients first!!
Naproxen and aspirin are two different drugs, so it is technically correct that naproxen *does not* contain aspirin.
However, they are related drugs, and if you are allergic to one of them, you *might* be allergic to the other. This goes for any drugs in the NSAID class.
Also, if you need to avoid certain side effects of one NSAID, this might rule out using other drugs in the same class.
Do it have aspirin in it
No
No it doesn't contain and aspirin products, but it is a N.S.A.I.D, so it can upset you stomache, so be careful with it and you may want to eat with it.
If it contained something other then naprosyn, it must be on the label. Manufacturers cannot sneak a med in without telling us.
Naproxen carries the same bleeding risks that aspirin does. If you are avoiding aspirin to prevent bleeding during surgery, you dont want to be taking naproxen either. To avoid surgical bleeding, the only over the counter pain reliever you can take is acetaminophen otherwise known as Tylenol. It is the only OTC pain med that doesnt increase risk of bleeding.
Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and does not contain aspirin.
Take care.
Thank You Very Much. Have a blessed day.
I also recommend you ask your Dr. Naproxen can have similar effects of aspirin.
Well my Dr. prescribed this for me awhile back so it should be ok. Thanks again.
No problem, you are welcome.-
