I've been on Adderall xr 15mg for over a year. It helps some but i could be better. my doc just put me on 20 mg xr reCently, and it is not working as well as the lesser dose! ? How can that be? And how can i tell my doctor without sounding like a nut? Has anyone had experience wIth name brand verses generic? I don't want to suggest this without hearing from Others because doctors are always convinced that there is no difference for some reason.
Is name brand Adderall xr better than generic?

Hi, you shouldn't notice a difference, the active ingredients are the same in the brand name & the generic... however some people do find that one works better than the other - for example, i take Seroquel XR and my surgery was trying to cut costs and switched me to a generic version, and i really did notice the difference, so it is possible... You may need to try the increased dose for a little while longer to see if it is going to improve for you... but certainly speak to your doctor about it
In my experience I've never had any differences in the effects with taking generic adderall vs. brand- or at least none that I've noticed. Although I did switch to concerta for a year & that was when my insurance transferred to only covering brand name adderall. You're probably just building a tolerance to the meds, to be honest. Hope this helps
