I know Shire was the originator, back in 1999 I believe and then Barr labs and teva currently are making generics which are as close to Brand Name you will get.

WOW!! Yes I figured this out years ago. I've been taking the lousy stuff for years-it does nothing! So they don't make the one that had the peach and white granules anymore?

You might hear people say that the Teva brand Adderall IR is, or is as close as you'll get to the original, but don't be fooled. When adderall went generic, Barr made the EXACT formula as Shire's original Adderall IR . Then Teva got their grubby greedy hands into the formula and after that- it had NEVER been the same. Doctor's prescribe this "medication" this "formula" for their patient's based on the outcome of Shire's extensive research and study of THIS EXACT FORMULA. It was Shire's EXACT formula that helped so many patients and today doctors assume, believe and/or trust that they are writing prescription's for a medication that was thoroughly studied. But in reality, doctor's today are writing prescription's for a bogus, ineffective, useless medication that no longer exists. Patient's like myself KNOW the difference in this medication, like we e know the back of our own hands.
We have voiced our concern, we have fought, we have been ringing the bell for years now to get those that this issue concerns to hear us, but it fall on deaf ears! We haven't given up and we keep hoping that maybe THIS month will be the month that they are forced to hand over and/or produce the original "formula" that was studied and approved, and no longer allowed to deceive, scam, and STEAL the money out of our wallets and that of our insurance company. It is completely evident that the Pharmaceutical industry, along with our governments Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) have worked quite closely together otherwise I wouln't be replying to this comment and there wouldn't be so many people questioning the efficacy of a pharmaceutical drug that we KNOW has been tampered with! No, we have NOT built a tolerance to it because we KNOW the difference between when we purposely take our "breaks" from it. Those who have gained monetarily by turning and looking away from one of the world's most wealthiest industries- the PHARMACEUTICAL industry at almost $1,000,000,000,000, that is ONE THOUSAND BILLION DOLLARS, those who have turned a blind eye and have allowed this to happen, I hope it is you and your family that that will be on the receiving end of a tragedy when a narcoleptic falls asleep behind the wheel because YOU allowed the drug company to get away with not putting the proper amount, IF ANY, of the active ingredient in adderall at all! I hope it is you or your family that is laying on an operating table when one of the doctor's or nurses can't concentrate or keep his/her brain focused and alert to perform a successful surgery. I hope it is you and your family who is traveling on a plane when the the pilot, who was prescribed this med to stay sharp and alert, but just can't feel even a spot of medicine in his system, even after taking another because he was prescribed this medicine to stay awake and keep YOU safe! This is what we battle daily! We were prescribed a medication that made a difference in our lives! But it no longer exists! Each month we hold out hope that it has changed. That finally we were heard and it has been corrected. Something has to give so we too can live our lives happily, productively, efficiently and successfully!

i absolutely agree, the barr/teva recipe has turned into baskin robins 31 flavors. some side effects have sent me to the ER, its not an OD but an adverse reaction to one of the inactive ingredients which most certainly ARE NOT the original recipe from the 2000s.

I currently take the brand Adderall XR 30mg and the BRAND Adderall Instant Release 30mg. I am certain they still manufacture both because I take them both. I can check the manufacturer when I get home :) Hope this helps

As on October 2018 Teva is making the Brand Name Adderall IR. The NDC is 57844-0110-01
Teva also makes a Generic Adderall IR and that NDC is 00555-0972-02. Adderall XR is manufactured Shire.

Dear Bake_city, I have tried to find if there was still a brand name IR for years. Neither my doctors or any pharmacists I ask will answer me. I have been on Adderall XR-brand name for several years. It did work well for my ADHD (and depression) before a surgery I had in 2013. I have tried generic adderall many times since it came out in 2009, and it is like taking nothing. Since generic, many of the big chain pharmacies will not keep the brand name in stock or even order it. I doubt they keep the brand name IR in stock either, and they will not even discuss it with me.
After the surgery, I am having trouble with malabsorption of food, vitamins, and medicine. I am not supposed to be on any XR medicine. But my psychiatrist and other doctors ignore the malabsorption and XR issues. Adderall XR (brand name) is the only XR I am on. In 2014, I moved to a smaller town. The doctors here have been very rude to me about the Adderall XR, and even reduced my dose. They are so touchy about it, they will not talk to me about Adderall IR or malabsorption issues at all.
I am not doing well at all on the smaller dose. Many doctors here will not prescribe adderall of any form. I live in fear they will just take it all away. They have proof I do not abuse it. I don't know what other people with ADHD or narcolepsy do. I guess I need to start asking for advice on these websites where people live in the real world. Thank you for letting me know it is real, and especially providing the NDC numbers. Do you have any advice for me?

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time getting the brand name Adderall IR. I have tried many generics myself and I know there can be a huge difference in the efficacy of the medication. I see a psychiatrist who prescribes me Adderall and Lexapro. He is very pleasant and listens to me when I tell him how I'm feeling without judgment. If you are seeing a family practice doctor I recommend getting yourself a good psychiatrist who specializes in ADHD. As for the brand name Adderall my psychiatrist always writes "dispense as written substitution not permitted" on my prescriptions. The pharmacy cannot supply you anything but brand name Adderall if it is written in that way. They might have to order it so it could take a few days to fill. Best of luck to you!

I have been seeing psychiatrists for 30 years. Nothing ever helped my depression. I think I have been on everything they make. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with ADHD, that I got any relief at all. I was put on Adderall XR back in 2005, and it made a huge difference in my ability to function, think straight, and even helped a lot with the depression. We just don't have any good psychiatrists around here. My doctor does write "Dispense as written." He did not listen to me either of the 2 times when I explained about my not absorbing medicine well. At the time, I wasn't sure they mad a brand name Adderall IR. I asked him, but he just said he didn't know. I am sure he just thought I was trying to get him to up my adderall. He doesn't listen to me anyway. I should be on the Adderall IR-but I would want to be on the brand-name one. I have suffered so much trying generic Adderall XR 13 times, that I would be too afraid to trust generic Adderall IR.
I wish I could find a good psychiatrist, but I am in too bad a shape to drive 2-3 hours away to try to get help.

There is not a brand name available for Adderall IR. There isn't even an authorized generic available for the instant release version. We are forced to pay for and accept subpar medications being manufacturered by a handful of companies that are not regulated or monitored by the FDA at all, in any way.
TEVA for example is the subject of thousands of complaints online which have been reported to the FDA consistently since 2015 only to increase in complaints in shocking numbers yet nothing is being done to regulate or monitor their production and distribution of generic Adderall ir.
Only the extended release is available in brand name which continues to be Shire.

Teva/Barr generic Adderall IR = brand name Adderall IR currently now; the med has changed hands several times since Shire originally made brand name Adderall IR.

Brand name Adderall was once manufactured by Teva. I believe that brand name Adderall is now discontinued. I am fairly sure I am correct. And by the way I am discussing Adderall IR.
