My TSH level is 9.43 and I am on Levothyroxine .125
What could cause an increase in TSH levels?

Your question is baffling... is your TSH 9.43 before or after taking the meds? If you're on meds and it's that high, it seems the meds are not working for one reason or another. The upper level of the TSH 'normal' range shouldn't be much more than 4. Most docs want it to be 2, or even 3. So 9.43 seems very high. I wouldn't wait to ask your doctor about this!
thanks for your response~and trust me... i have a pending appt with an Endocrinologist. (July 29th)
I was shocked to see the level at 9.43 the other day. Shocked is an understatement!
This whole thing is a long story... but, this 'new doctor' I have is because I moved to Wisconsin from Illinois and needed a new G.P. He saw that I was on a very high dose of thyroid Rx and decided it was 'too high'. So, against my pleading... he dropped the dose to next to nil and wanted to adjust it as he saw fit... so, last August my TSH was .31 and this time, it's 9.43.
Not impressed with him, to say the least. I am more concerned at what would cause it to go so extremely high in such a short time. Any thoughts?
Wow, I feel for you, I hear you. My only remaining question also is--how are you FEELING? Are there new negative symptoms you're experiencing along with these new high numbers. That might be helpful to state to your doc as well... but you probably don't need me to suggest that. I am new to this thyroid business myself. My doc just upped me from 50mcg to 88mcgs PLUS I have a high cholesterold which is sometimes indicative of a high TSH... so I'm in the same boat as you... wanting to put my TSH in range and hope that it also helps my cholesterol to be too.
good luck with getting everything in sync, jovanna~
i have text book symptoms! every single 'could' happen, has happened! i am looking forward to meeting the Endo and seeing what she comes up with.
I will post again after the appt~
YOUR THYROID FUNCTIONS ARE VERY SENSITIVE AND SHOULD BE CHECKED 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR
Jovanna here again--if I get this straight, your TSH went very high and your 'textbook' symptoms appeared ONLY THEN? This is a signal that the meds are too low... and why, I wonder, did a GP decide unilaterally to decrease your endo meds when s/he should have conferred w/your previous endo doc first! You said you "pleaded" with him/her, and yet, you had no vote in the matter?! Grrr. Stick to your guns. Doctors may think we have no brains, but we know our bodies better than they do after all! Good luck.
