As the other answers state, yes it is illegal, and i also know someone who has ordered drugs illegally, and they were taken to court, got off a custodial sentence due to impaired mental health, but paid a hefty fine and was commited to counselling, but of the worst kind, apparently was more like a boot camp!? I understand that it is difficult to prevent yourself from doing so if you have no other methods of getting hold of the medication, but it is a real risk. Your friend may not be as lucky as mine?

Beyond the legal issues-your friend most likely is suffering from addiction issues and needs help. I know someone who is ordering tramadol off the net as well. They are a drug addict in serious need of help but refuses to admit their problem. They have been having numerous seizures from self-medicating and over-dosing on tramadol. The additional danger of ordering off the net is that there is no longer the checks and balance in place for drug interaction that you get from going through a pharmacy. Check tramadol's interaction with other drugs- for instance any type of depresssion meds can have a serious effect. There is a wealth of info on the net about tramadol abuse- just google it. Your friend is on the road to disaster. Additionally, if they do not want help do not get sucked into their drama. They have 12 step groups for friends and relatives of substance abusers called Alanon and Naranon. I can tell you from first hand experience it is extremely painful to watch someone willfully destroy themselves with drugs and or alcohol. good luck to you.
