I’ve mixed valerian root with diazepam which is a benzodiazepine the same as Xanax. You are on such a tiny dose it wouldn’t have a bad effect in my experience. I now prefer valerian root extract tablets to diazepam, hope that helps
Valerian root does not help me. I asked the same question as this person . You are no help
You guys are a bunch of pussies. Valerian root is incredibly weak by itself and only potentiates Xanax by a very little. Quit acting like the guy is talking about a Vegas cocktail.
Try avoid this combination and talk to your Dr. first, before you do anything.
Interactions between your selected drugs
alprazolam ↔ valerian
Applies to: Xanax (alprazolam), Valerian Root (valerian)
Using ALPRAZolam together with valerian may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Other drugs that your selected drugs interact with
Valerian Root (valerian) interacts with more than 200 other drugs.
Xanax (alprazolam) interacts with more than 300 other drugs.
Interactions between your selected drugs and food
alprazolam ↔ food
Applies to: Xanax (alprazolam)
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with ALPRAZolam and lead to potentially dangerous side effects. Discuss the use of grapefruit products with your doctor. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet without first talking to your doctor. Do not drink alcohol while taking ALPRAZolam. This medication can increase the effects of alcohol. You may feel more drowsy, dizzy, or tired if you take ALPRAZolam with alcohol.

i want to thank all of you for your kind replys im making good progress so far i take only .25 mg of xanax a day now from .75 mg i started on. its been a long 16 months for me taking this horrible drug alprazolam i read countless hours how i can quit i been using a treadmill lightly each day and just staying active seems to make me need less of this medicine i really cant reduce this medicine anymore i need anoher drug to help me cope with withdrawls i was reading about how taking diazapam can help me taper lower and quit eventually and its easier to quit diazapam (vallium) than it is to quit xanax. has anyone tried diazapam im wondering what its side affects are like..
Sometimes you can call a pharmacist or maybe more than one for a second opinion. They deal with drug interactions more than the docs do. Just a suggestion. I hope you can get off the xanax. You have a lot of courage to try. Keep us posted on the Valerian root. I am also looking for something besides xanax for my anxiety. Wishing you the best.
cinnoman capsules and chamomille tea are helpfull in relaxing and i try to limit my computer / tv time i feel like im senstive to lights coming from them ..i read about the medication BUSPIRONE that is NOT addictive i should ask the dr if its safe to taper with buspirone and switch over to that a therapist dr MHMR gave me some citalopram luckily i read the side affects online before trying them, theyre horrible side affects! . thanks janie for your reply
Valerian root while it is an herbal supplement should not be mixed with Xanax. It can be mixed with certain benzodiazapines, but it should be regulated by your doctor. I take Valerian with my clonopin but my doctor knows about it, I only use it for sleep. The two drugs Xanax mixed with Valerian have shown that the Valerian can effect how the liver breaks down the Xanax, it can cause some severe side effects. I wouldn't recommend mixing the 2 without your medical professionals blessings.
