Started 15mg mirtazapine 5 days ago and within that time I have gained 5lbs. Not eating any differently so in my opinion it's the actual tablet that makes you gain weight. I have been regularly following an intermittent fasting protocol since march last year and within that time frame I have lost 33lbs. I know it's not what I am eating that is making me gain weight. Feeling very despondent, not willing to put my physical health at risk by carting around extra lbs. Anyone else experience this? Thanks

Hi, Polly!
As with all antidepressants and antipsychotic medications the potential is there for weight gain in a small number of patients.
"Mirtazapine:
Metabolic
Very common (10% or more): Increased appetite (up to 17% of users), weight gain (up to 12% of users.)"
Unfortunately, it often becomes a matter of living with a few extra pounds or living with your symptoms. Have a discussion with your doctor... sometimes a dose adjustment is helpful.
Best regards and I hope you do well.
