Megace - how long does it take to start seeing results from taking megestrol acetate?

Do you have to eat food before taking megestrol acetate

It's been a week and 3 days since I came off of megace. My doctor prescribed 40mg twice a day to shed the lining of my uterus cause it was so thick causing me to have my period longer. She told me it was a 9 month therapy kind of thing. Every 3 months I would go in and she would check the lining of my uterus to see if it was getting better and it was. On the 9th month it was normal and I was taken off of it. It works! For me anyway. I was told I'd get my period after being taken off of it cause the megace prevented my period from coming but I am having the worst cramps I've ever had in my life. Not sure if this is the same for everyone coming off of megace but I looked it up on the Internet and it looks like it's pretty normal.
