Males- Does Cymbalta affect your sex drive?

Yes, I am 60 and have been on many antidepressants, anxiety and narcotics. I have never had issues until I went from 30mg to 60mg. I have no problem maintaining an erection and can for hours. BUT! I can’t have an orgasm! I’ll spend my first two hours when I go to bed masturbating. I stay hard as a rock but nothing! I’m a walking definition of sexual frustrated. Sometimes I get lucky and if I stroke hard enough, fast enough and long enough I can blow. And boy do I ever. I have reduced to 30mg hoping to get back to having daily orgasms. I’m not your typical 60 year old. In great shape but I’m about ready to have a heart attack from beating myself raw.

I have been taking 60mg of Cymbalta since November 2019. It has not effected my desire to have intercourse, but getting and maintaining an erection has been hard to impossible. My thoughts, I don’t really care about the sexual side effects. Having an erection is not necessary for orgasm and pleasure. I prefer the Benifits that I have gained to combat the PTSD issues and suicidal thoughts. The benefits outweigh the side effects for me. Sex, I love it still it just takes on a different process.

Yep. I’m three weeks in on 60mg (duloxetine for depression) and the first thing I noticed was the old fella down there lost all interest with days. Just felt no arousal sensations at all - like rubbing one’s forehead.

Yes it does. I was on efexxor prior and let me tell that causes penial shrinkage. Dr gave me viagra to try to correct it. That did not work I never regained my original size. I was later placed on Cymbalta 60. My sex drive is almost non existent and the delay in orgasm which could be a few hours or not at all, even with masturbation is beyond frustrating.. These things may help with Clinical Depression but it also creates something else that makes it almost impossible to to have a love or social life.

I have taken 60MG for 10 years - true there is some impact on delayed orgasm for sure and maybe some overall sensation but it does lessen over time I feel and hasn't been an issue for me with women, its more annoying for me with the delayed orgasm ;) but tell him don't get discouraged and it won't be an issue worth talking about...

"Common (1% to 10% of users): Abnormal orgasm/anorgasmia, decreased libido, delayed ejaculation, ejaculation disorder, erectile dysfunction, urinary frequency

Uncommon (0.1% to 1% of users): Abnormal urine odor, dysuria, micturition urgency, nocturia, polyuria, sexual dysfunction, testicular pain, urinary hesitation

Rare (less than 0.1% of users): Decreased urine flow, menstrual disorder, urinary retention"

Yes it does affect sex drive! It also keeps me from freely urinating. My Doctor has placed me on Viagra (Generic) and Flomax (Generic) and this helps tremendously! I am unable to take all of the others (Yes I have tried them all ) due to them making me feel like a zombie, tired all the time, unsteady walking, and etc. I hope this helps.

This has happened to me. My girlfriend says she would rather have me healthy than sexually active... as a man... I call BS!! If this is a permanent thing than I'm done with it.

I was on Paroxetine 20 mgs 1x day and I lost my sex drive. Now they are trying to get me off the med. But now they are giving me duloxetine 90 mg I was wondering if that would bring my sex drive back. I have MS.

I recently increased my dosage of Cymbalta from 30 to 60 mg, and it doesn't still doesn't seem to be as bad as when I was on Prozac. But what my research tells me is that different SNRIs and SSRIs effect different folks in different ways. So my suggestion is for your boyfriend to try a different drug. I don't know what his diagnosis is, but generally speaking, most of the drugs in the SNRI and SSRI class have similar effects and usually work for depression, anxiety, OCD, panic attack, etc. I'm just half-way through my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counselor, some my answer is only half professional! :-)

I'm on Cymbalta 30mg for two months. It's actually increased my sex drive. The only thing I have noticed is a brief stinging sensation at the tip of my penis after ejaculation.
And sometimes, it takes longer to come if Im a little distracted during the act.

It seems there are several opinions. I take so many meds that "may" impact this area I cannot say for sure which has done it. I searched the topic and there was a study that cabergoline had helped men with this problem.

For me there have not been enough studies, but you may want to check on it.

I can tell you I have taken Wellbutrin and Cymbalta the reason I quit taking the Wellbutrin was because of this issue i went off Wellbutrin my sex drive came back erections orgasms everything and after going on Cymbalta it went away again

I am a 41 y.o.male and have noticed a serious problem. I have lost most of my sex drive (once or twice a month) and can't finish. Ever. Can I take Cialis or Viagra?
