I'm a 20year old woman who was diagnosed with stage four endometriosis . I was taking 200mg of progesterone , than when that didn't work I started taking 15mg of norethindrone and that still didn't work for pain or anything. So my doctor gave me two options, get pregnant or take lupron. And as far as what I have Heard and read about this medication... I do NOT want to take it. The weight gain, acne, mood swings, hot flashes, everything. I'm so scared I don't know what to do. The nurse told me I'd have weight LOSS not weight gain, but I feel like she's lying seeing as how everyone says they gained substantial amount of weight... Can anyone tell me about the side effects.. please.

I have severe Endometriosis, I was diagnosed at 17 and this is going on my 4th surgery for it. I’m on Lupron, as well as still taking Norethindrone. I’ve lost over 30lbs in water weight and inflammation in the past two and a half weeks of being on it. I don’t have bad acne, but I do have very dry skin and hot flashes. More of my issues are psychological with lupron, I’m High Functioning Autistic, there isn’t a lot of literature about lupron and autism so I’m a guinea pig. I’d recommend the lupron for a little while and then do surgery, followed by doing Norethindrone, and the birth control pill Natazia which is designed for Endometriosis; but absolutely no periods. I’ve done this for awhile with my previous doctor, and then I moved to Grand Forks ND, the hospital Altru basically screwed me over and caused a severe flare which is now life threatening and so now I’m Lupron. I was really scared, but my doctor in Minneapolis MNspecializes in Endometriosis and is doing this treatment protocol. I’d recommend it and possibly seeing a new doctor that specializes in Endometriosis.
I felt that way... but so glad I took the risk. I've been on Lupron for about three months and I have actually lost 10 pounds. I think everybody is different. I'd say the only annoying side effect, that I could attribute to Lupron, is an occasional headache. Other than that it's worked fantastic for my endometriosis pain and is going to keep me pain-free until I have a hysterectomy in a couple months.
.
I hope I lose weight lol I'm already highly uncomfortable with the weight I am. Thank you so much for the response . I hope all goes well on your surgery ☺
