I am currently taking Lupron to treat Endometreosis and the side-effects are too severe and I am considering discontinuing treatment. I would like to know how long after I stop taking it, will I start feeling normal again?

I received a 6-month Lupron shot in July 2017. I’m still gaining weight 10 months later!!!
I had so much pain after my fifth child that I thought they left something in me. My cycle started lasting longer and got heavier. Other women would say my cramps were no worse than anyone else’s so I thought it was all in my head and that maybe I was just weak. So I just endored it. Then after about 7 years I started taking off work because the pain was so bad and my cycle was on heavy ever other week for 7 days at a time. One of my supervisors said that it wasn’t normal to have to leave work for pain for my period so I went back to my first Gyn. After about 6 months of testing and trying to loose weight to help manage my pain, she said it was endometriosis that was around my tubes and across my c-section incision my uterine wall was so thin surgery was not an option so I did the Lupron for 6 months. My pain is now manageable with 2-3 ibuprofen, I was taking up to 1000mg at a time before just to push the pain to the back of my mind.
I had ovarian cysts so large and severe I was unable to walk for 3 months. I started a six month course of Depo Lupron in May. The first three months was done an individual one-month doses to reduce side effects. It's still caused migraines when I started it and some nausea but not as bad as the cyst pain. The second dose was given in a 3 month shot and cause severe migraines for 2 weeks afterwards. Overall it was very successful, the only major side effect I suffered was painful vulvodynia related to the hormonal changes. This happens to me with any birth control or any other hormonal treatment. Now that I'm coming off of the Lupron I'm experiencing nausea as the main side effect. I have one more week until my gynecologist estimates that ovulation will begin Again. If the cysts return with the same severity then I'll do another 6 month Lupron course.
I don't have an answer more of another question on this. I had 2 Lupron shots in 6 months back in 2011. It cause me to gain A LOT of weight. It has been over 5 years and my hair is thin, I have cyst acne, and struggle hard with weight. I was 178 at time of shot now 230. I want to know if these problems are side effects left over from these shot treatments?
I have had my thyroid checked doctors say it is in untreatable range. I am tired and I think have worse night sweats that now leave a sour smell. I am a very clean person who cares a great deal on how they look. Doctors can not tell me why these things are happening. I just started wondering if it was from Lupron. Because that is when everything went down hill for me.
It did help my endorsement pain along with removal of the cells. I also got curly beach waves in my hair from the shot. But over the past 5 years it has become very thin.
Has anyone else had long term side effects or things you can not get an answer on?
With any medicine you are taking, if you have side effects it is hard to say when the side effects will go away even after you stop taking the medicine. If you have stopped using Lupron and have seen the side effects go away, please leave a comment here so that we can learn from it.
Thank you.
I had one injection of Depo Lupron for the tx of menoreasia ( heavy rediculous bleeding) being 48yrs when I started, I had every side effect on the Lupron box! the one area that scared me the most was weight gain so I started with Bikram Yoga. I also was told the Hot Yoga would help sweat out some of the medicine. The Hot Yoga seemed to help me adjust to side effects. I became very aware of my diet and went to a South Beach type of eating, basically low to no carbs and no sugars. This really seemed to help. feeling so great and in control I neglected to get my next shot for 8months. ( not one day of bleeding) But then my problem came back with a vengence and a quick trip to the emergency room for scarry uncontrolable bleeding. The ER doc gave me an injection of Depovera as I was not sure which one I was on. ( I did not realize the difference. ) It took 2 wks for the bleeding to calm down. but my blood cell count was in the safe range.
I have also been on Lupron Depot 3.75 mg I started seeing a new doctor about my Endo and he threw me on Lupron with out even checking anything out him self. I had the first shot in Feb 2012 and every month since then up until this month of July . I have been in so much pain , it has not helped with the ENDO . Like the doctor's say , The side effects don't normally set in until the 4th shot. Headache's the are unbareable then the bone pains come , for me it feels as if my legs and arms are being broke , I would wake up threw the night crying because it hurt so bad. The night sweats end up getting worse , and started to make me sick. This shot is not every thing it is made out to be and still after 5 months I am still in as much pain I was in when I started it . I have already been told by two doctors before I started seeing this last one the I did in fact have endo and I have even had two surgery's in 5 months before I seen this last doctor. I will no longer be seeing this doctor nor taking this drug .
I have had severe Endro for over twelve years. I was able to get cleaned out before each kid thank goodness. But the cysts always come back and every few years I would have a laparoscopy and it would help for a bit. The beginning of this year I had to find a new Gyno because mine retired. We met and decided to do a laparoscopy again even though she recommended a lupron shot. During this laptaroscopy the doctor could not get in. I had so much scar tissue that she couldn't even see my uterus or ovaries. We had to decide now what to do. I have a mood disorder and my shrink highly suggested I have a hysterectomy and not the shot. So I scheduled my hysterectomy. A month prior my new doc called and said she was forced into retirement due to health issues but was handing my case over to her trusted partner. A week before surgery this new doctor says she is not comfortable with the surgery and refuses to do it. So I try the shot. I had severe bleeding a few days after the first shot.
my wife of 21 years (shes 42 yrs old) took 6- 1 month shots for endometriosis treatment and has all but gone insane. She has become the exact opposite of who she was before. Everyday is scary trying to keep an eye on her from doing stupid, crazy things that im embarrassed to mention here. Yes, the pain went away, but he cost is nearly unbearable ruining her family life every single day. After being totally normal, and the best wife ever,She started getting weird after the 6th week(2nd shot). Her doctor resused to stop giving them to her. She now has uncontrollable addiction/compulsion issues, sleep problems, actually has lost weight as many gain.I fear for her safety everyday. She got in a car accident, first ever, when she zoned out as she put it. She no longer cares for the simple things in life she has always loved. She often forgets little things shes supposed to do and has constant agitation, anger issues. Wow, my sweet wife has been destroyed totally by Lupron.
