Was just put on these for severe chronic back pain..in alot of pain and just wondering how long for them to kick in...

If your just starting after the first day you should feel it, if not tell your doc right away. Any other meds should be only for break through pain. the first few days,stay in contact with your doctor daily. If you ever taken subutex or suboxone you know after 100 min if your not feeling less pain your not going to.good luck,

I am sure it is different for everyone. The first day I wore a # 10 patch I used my pain medication that I was on prior pretty much as I needed to (the doctor gave me a script with the patches). The second day I tried to cut back a lot and I felt like crap. I spoke with the pharmacist and she told me that she has heard of it taking around a week to really start working and basically told me to take something for my pain if I still felt bad. The first being Advil and if that didn't help to take some of my pain medication.

Thank you for answering my question. I have a pain pump implanted but my surgeon is looking for a new pain dr. for me. He and I don't like the pain dr. I have had. So I have saline in my pump right now. My pcp put me on the 5 mg patches for now but I just started them yesterday and have found no relief yet. She said she would put me on 10 if this didn't work. So I was just wondering about how long it would take. Will keep you posted.
