I've been on citalopram 5 mg since February. It took about close to three months till the morning anxiety started to go away. I wouldn't want to get out of bed. But as the day went on I would start to feel better. Hang in there as the meds can take awhile to adjust.
Thanks wildcat. I’m new to anxiety and the medication. I seem to be getting a few good days except for the mornings. Yesterday was a bad day didn’t leave the full day but the symptoms aren’t as severe as before. It’s the mornings that really scare me usually it goes after a few hours but some days it remains. I’m really hoping I’ll see an improvement in the mornings soon. I’ll give the medication another week then contact the doctor if no improvement. Have u been on citalopram long?
Most people begin to see improvements in the first two weeks or so but anxiety takes longer to respond to the medication than depression. It can take 4-8 weeks for the drug to become fully effective but you should start seeing some major improvements very soon now since you're almost two weeks in already.
I'd give it another week and see how you feel at that point and how much progress you've made. If you're still experiencing a lot of anxiety let your doctor know.
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better very quickly.
