Stopped amlodipine 21 days ago and still have anxiety and low mood. I stopped this drug because of side effects i.e. really bad twitching, frequent passing urine at night and low mood (depression symptoms). I still feel not like myself. I am a 70 year old male. Thanks
How long after stopping amlodipine will I start to feel back to normal?

Never stop taking a calcium blocker cold turkey, you should cut down slowly or you could go into hypertensive rebound. You must drop the dosage slowly.
Hi, Sam!
Was it straight amlodipine that you were taking or was it a combination like amlodipine/atorvastatin or amlodipine/olmesartan? And what dosage were you taking?
Straight amlodipine has a long half life but should be out of your system in about 12-14 days.
If you're still have symptoms/side effects you'll need to discuss it with your doctor for professional advice. It may just take a little longer for them to subside but you'd also want to rule out any underlying condition.
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better quickly.
Hi wildcat yes it was just amlodipine I was on them for 6 months dose started of as 5mg then a little while later it was increased to 10mg that’s when I started the anxiety and twitching and frequent urine trips at night my wife noticed my mood was low and I didn’t engage in conversation and found it difficult to concentrate. Had a befuddled mind and short term memory was impaired. Also had pain in back, shoulder, and other joints, pains have subsided but still a low mood. I am hoping things will get better over time. I have been off them now for 23 days. Thank you for your reply. Sam2211
I too take amlodipine since 2019, I have terrible back pain now too. I am going to ask the Dr. to change my medicine. Calcium channel blockers also make me gain weight.
