Lithium - How long untill you start to feel less suicidal ideations or thoughts?

It generally takes lithium about 1-3 weeks to start to help resolve symptoms... if you're on a therapeutic dose which differs from person to person.
If you're just starting out on a low dose and not feeling relief your doctor will order a blood test to determine if your dose is therapeutic and, if not, you'll need a dosage increase.
Try to hang in there and it's critical that you stay in close touch with your doctor to let her/him know exactly how you're progressing or not. If you're feeling suicidal let them know ASAP.

For me it took at least a month but i was really sick with major depression for over a year before treatment. I would think it would depend on alot of factors. Everyone is different.
