lindagail1965, How are you! You need to monitor your BP and see when it is running high after you took your lisinipril (maybe 6hrs. after) and see if it is still running high. If it is, you need to go back to your Dr. and tell him or her to raise your BP Meds up! Also, It wouldn't hurt to see a heart specialist and have a stress test and echo cardiogram done as well.
My BP has been running very high, after being admitted from in the emergency room twice. It was a VERY SCARY feeling for me. I am now taking Cardizem CD 2x a day (180mg.) and taking Lisinipril 10mg. 1x a day. I have had ECG's on my heart and everything has come back normal as well as the echo cardiogram.
Guess what! It was my pain making it shoot up, so now I will be going back to my Dr. and talking to her about different and stronger pain meds. I have told CHRISTINE and some others on here that the MS Contin 2x 30mg a day and the Percocet 10/325 3x a day just wasn't helping me. They know what I have been through! It is great to come on here and talk to people and get some help. Most people on here know what they are talking about!
P.S. Good Luck with everything and if you need to ask me anything, I will be more than glad to help!
its been high for 2 weeks now ... i feel perfectly fine tho
Linda, where did you get Lisinopril 15mg tabs? They are available in the following strenghts: Lisinopril 2.5mg; Lisinopril 5mg; Lisinopril 10mg; Lisinopril 20mg; Lisinopril 30mg; Lisinopril 40mg. Unless you combine two different doses!
Lisinopril dosage:
Factors that affect lisinopril dosage include your age, the condition being treated, and if you have other medical conditions. When treating high blood pressure, the recommended dosage is 10mg, taken once daily. For congestive heart failure, the starting dose is 5mg a day. When given following a heart attack, lisinopril dosage guidelines call for 5mg to start, then another 5mg in 24 hours, and then 10mg at 48 hours.
Linda, please talk to your doc who prescribed the med he/she could change it if Lisinopril is not working, please you could try Ramipril, but please do not change the dosage or meds without seeking the docs advice.
Be well & safe!
i take 3 of the little 5 mg a day
Try taking to your doc to perhaps change the med., to ramipril
ok i will do that ... is it a really good bp medicine
Yes, Linda but talk to your doc before you switch meds, be well & safe!
In people with non-complicated essential hypertension not on diuretic treatment, the suggested starting dose is 10 mg once a day. Dosage should be adjusted according to blood pressure response. The usual dosage is between 20 to 40 mg per day administered in a single daily dose.
Talk to your Doctor .
Take care
