Wow glad I found this because I am exhausted and can only be the Lizness. Need to talk to my doctor about this
I was on linzess a few years back and it did nothing for me at the minimum dose. I started back on 5 days ago at the max dose. I take mine at night and it works for me and I sleep good at night. I go the next day when I get up. I have a lit of issues with my stomach, so I really don't have any complaints about it. Take it at night and sleep, not in am when your day is beginning. Good luck to you all!!! Vicki
Linzess makes me TIRED after I use the bathroom. I no longer have regular stools but DIARRHEA ONLY. Also I feel like I can now ONLY GO ONCE A DAY and the rest of the day my colon movement stops and so this DISRURPTS my digestive process. I feel like all the good bacteria gets FLUSHED out of my colon with this medication. I also feel FULL and sometimes don’t have the appetite to eat. I don’t have the energy to exercise which I usually do after bowel movements.
I want to stop taking the medication, but my body has become dependent on it. Has anyone had any success with coming off this linzess?? I was thinking taking a regular laxative and then probiotics.
But this drug seriously messes up your digestive process as it blocks sensory transmitters in your body to promote bowel movement. That doesn’t seem too healthy long-term.
I have been taking it about dinner time for a few weeks and couldn't figure out why I literally could not stay awake past 7. I stopped it yesterday, went to sleep at 9 and hope tonight will be more like 11, as it used to be. Also, I got up with terrible diarrhea in the middle of the night some nights. Duh! Will try Movantik soon.
Been on it a month and I swear I could fall asleep driving after taking it. Considering switching to night dosing. But this Side Effect is not listed in the side effects section so i keep thinking what else could it be?
I have been on Linzess for a little over a month, and have been so much more fatigued than normal.( I am on a lot of other medications as well - even Nuvigil- so didn't know if it had something to do with that at first). But now I am reading all these comments and it sounds so familiar. I'm trying to decide if it's worth taking it now.
Absolutely yes. I have been on Linzess for one month, and I feel terrible... tired and fatigued all the time. I kept thinking this would go away, and it has not. All I want to do is sleep... and my body aches like I have a bad case of the flu (especially worse in my legs, cramps), and it is getting worse. So glad I found this website, I am going to stop the Linzess.
Yes. I started Linzess 290mcg, yesterday and experiencing super relaxed, sleepy feelings, both yesterday and today. I am hoping Dr. will give me a lower strength. (I am having the diarrhea side effect, so I am wondering if that is why I am drained of energy.) No energy to grocery shop yesterday and too wiped out to go to church today.
I have been using Linzess for a few months and have found myself to be very fatigued and my body aching. I never connected these feelings to this medication. I just thought that being 73 now that my body was trying to tell me to stop exercising. I am going to stop taking it for a few days to see if I feel any better.
Yes! I just started taking Lizness yesterday. My experience has been the same. Within 15 mins I am sooo sleepy! I'm 3 months behind you in taking this. Have you noticed a change? Are you more energetic? Is Lizness working for you?
I started it about three days ago and literally have been asleep accept for when I have to go to the bathroom. Days and nights have become one big sleep cycle. Thankfully I found your comments so I now know it is the new medication Linzess and I will talk to my doctor about the side effect I am getting. You are correct in saying that in the side effects there is nothing that says it causes fatigue or tiredness. UGH
Yes i get sleepy & cold but that beats bloating cramping & constipation hands down... i dont work so i dont mind the extra rest
I also started taking Lizness three days ago. I feel extremely lethargic. I am normally very energetic. I'm thankful for the relief the drug brings, but not sure I can handle this lack of energy.
Hi shan1990. I posted back in June how Linzess made me very sleepy. I have to say that my experience has been that this side effect didn't last long. It lasted less than a month. Also, have you spoken to your prescriber about possibly taking it at night? Just a suggestion. I would say stick with it. The lethargy passed for me. Maybe it will pass for you as well. Good luck!
Thank you SunshineLaLa for the comment. I'm glad to hear that it passes. I will stick with it!
shan1990 You're welcome! Good luck, and I hope you get better soon!
I took lizness this morning I was it I scared because before taking it I researched it. and I saw some scary side effects but I too feel very tired and drowsy I have small children so this isn't good but it y isn't a side effect mentioned. Why not? I am twenty five years old I can't be sleeping all the time! and I have had abdominal pain and that is what my doctor was trying to stop
Ok, I have been taking Lizness at night as someone suggested. It usually works during the wee hours of the morning when I should be sleeping. My stomach cramps as if I've taken a laxative. A lot of times I will not take it everyday because it interrupts my sleep. But eventually I get desperate for the relief and will take it. I feel like there must be a better drug alternative. Has anyone had success with a similar drug (if there is one)?
I sleep better at night since starting this medication then I take mine when I wake up with a full glass of water. Within 30 minutes I have to lie down and I fall back to sleep for 3 or 4 hours. It must have that side effect even though it isn't listed.
Funny you say this! I was just given linzess and tried it this morning. I took it when I woke up, 15 minutes later I was out! I could feel my body relax just like I had taken a sleeping pill or something! I slept for another 3 hrs! (Thank goodness it was Saturday!) so I got online to research side effects, saw nothing about feeling sleepy, but came across your post. So, maybe we are having this particular side effect.
I just started linzess three days ago. I get so tired I have to lay down for a while. I am not a nap type of person. This certainly makes you tired. I to have looked it up and found no such side effect.
I take Linzess when I wake up, and I have not felt any sleepier. I hope it is only temporary for you! I should mention that it also does not seem to be working for me, so maybe it is a good sign for you.
Tuesday I woke up and took linzess and did not get tire. Hopefully that will continue. I am no longer bloated with gas I do burp alot. I have not gone to the bathroom yet. My doctor said give it at least 10 days. I hope it works but if not he said there is a higher dose.
I take it every morning 3o mins b4 i eat & about an hour afterwards i get cold & sleepy... i jus go back to bed... since i have insomnia i dont mind extra sleep~If i had to work this would be impossible
I am so tired. I just started Linzess 3 days ago and I can barely keep my eyes open. I notice that solemness is not on the list of side effects. What gives? Are you guys taking any other medications? What are your symptoms for which you were prescribed this medication? I am a scientist and I might be able to put something together.
I read it can take one to two weeks before it starts working, just in case it isn’t working right away for some of you.
