New to lexapro and on day 2, taking it at night and I have slept ok, better sleep that I've had in a long time. I'm started on the 10mg dose and am to go back to my doctor next week to possibly up it. Feeling very unmotivated and a little tummy upset. Feeling very anxious but from what I have read this is normal. How long will this feeling last for? Does the anxiety just disappear over the course of a few days and will this lazy feeling go away in days or weeks or is it all down to an individual experience?
blaaccy; Yes this well pass every time you change the dose you have to work through these side effects again. So don't worry. But as said you might start to take it at bedtime just don't keep changing it back and forth you either take it at bedtime or the morning once you make up your mind and it well still work during the daytime but most of the sleepy part well have worn off by mid or first thing in the morning Good luck hope this works for you should not be too long and the headache or the sleepiness well go away
I recently had to reinstate Lexapro as I was having withdrawals from quitting. So I'm dealing with both. Can you share what your symptoms were when you started Lexapro. I've had insomnia, dizziness, and a constant anxiety. It's a little better but it's been 10 days since I've been back on it. Socializing has become non existent as I've been dealing with this for a month
I started with insomnia, increased anxiety, constipation, awful panic attacks. Now I get angry easy and feel dead tired all the time. I also seem to feel every little pain or knock that goes on in my body. I can't stand it, but I guess the alternative isn't much better. I really am not sure what to do. How are you doing so far?
It's hard. Between the withdrawing for a month and then inititial side effects of reinstating has left me exhausted. Though I did sleep the last two nights I woke up this AM like I do everyday. Tired and an anxiety that effects concentration. Not to mention the brain fog from this pill starting back up. I've lost 15 lbs in a month. But I guess it's only been 10 days back on it and I have slept the last two days. Trying desperately to avoid the benzo's that were prescribed to me as that with be more of a mess when I come down from those.
Can you describe the brain fog? People always talk about it but not sure what they mean.
Inability to concentrate. I can read so so but watching TV is challenging.
Hello :) Don't worry the headaches and drowsiness will pass. I've been on Lexapro for a few years now. I found that Excedrin helped with the headaches and if I took the Lexapro a couple hours before bed instead of in the morning not only did I sleep better but I didn't have that don't want to even hold my head up feeling. I know you said you've been on Lexapro a while now, but have you passed the 6-8 week mark? Side effects are usually worse during that period and begin to subside after.
I have been on it a total of three months. I started out at 2.5mgs, then 5 mgs, then 7.5 mgs, now 10mgs for the last 26 days. I have had start up side effects at each dose. Just none as bad as these.
So at 6 to 8 weeks my anxiety coming back could be a side effect at that point.I am at 6 weeks and my anxiety increased for nothing
It will go away. I went through the exact same thing now I'm feeling better. It was weird all I wanted to do was lay around. I'm back to normal now. Than the lord. Just hang in blacc!
Take it at night. My therapist told me to take it at night.
What time do you take it at?
I take at 9 . I was taking it in the morning but my Dr said he wants me to take it at night from now on.
How did you switch over to taking it at night. Has it helped?
I just took it again that same day and I did just fine supposed to help me sleep better and wake up feeling better. My therapist said to switch so I just followed instructions. From what I've heard and read it's better to take at night.
I think I am going to have to try it at night. I did at the beginning, but it gave me extreme insomnia. Since now it makes me tired, maybe it is best if I do take it at night. Any other suggestions?
Chuckie,
What were your symptoms? Was concentration ever an issue ? When did they clear up?
Yes concentration was an issue. Now I weld way better. I'm also able to stay at work for ot. I'm also taking my son to the boxing gym again and I don't hesitate to leave the house anymore. Sometimes I worry but I stop thinking about what ever I'm worried about right of way and move on quickly. I used to get mad very quickly now I don't it will be 6 weeks for me on Saturday.
I am very glad that it is going well for you. I pray that the healing continues for you.
