I have been on 25mg of lamictal for two weeks , does the fatique go away if I go up to 50mg or higher?
Does lamictal give you more energy the higher the dose, so I don"t feel so tired?

Interesting to me. I was slowly taken off Dilantin and now take Lamictal (for absence seizures). I feel more energetic, but at the same time am having problems getting enough sleep. After four-five hours, I'm wide awake. I had been blaming it on the loss of Dilantin. I now take 150 in AM, 225 at bedtime. This has been so for over 6 months and I don't still get enough sleep. I feel like my brain won't relax, is this your feeling also?
Yes, It takes me a while to get to sleep then I wake up all during the night and I am up earlier than I have ever been, but I just started on a low, low dose of 25mg not like the dosage you are on, I am being treated for chronic depression, I get very fatigued in the afternoon but just don't seem to want to relax like you, I go back to check on meds in a few weeks. Going to bed isn't a relaxing time like it should be !!
Lamictal rocks~~~~~It helps keep my head together.~~~I'm more balanced physically, emotionally, socially and spirituality.
Have you ever thought about getting a sleeping aid. I couldn't go to sleep without Ambien. Also, a muscle relaxer, such as Flexeril.~~~~
You and your doc will work this out. I'm plain folk who wants to know and help others and gives me tons of friends. I'll be asking you questions too. That's a warning, ...
Yes, he gave me script for Ambien and it works from 11pm til 3 or 4am. I don't like taking so many meds, don't want to get hooked on Ambien. Just wish I knew some med that would let me sleep more. Less sleep is not good for the petit mal absence seizures. Sleep is important! Hoping to find someone with petit mal and what med they take that allows sleep AND no seizures. Although no two people are alike.
Thanks for trying to help.
Hi Folks I realize this is an old post but I have a question. Has your sleep improved? I am taking lamictal but not fully rested when I get up in the
morning. I feel like I need a nap every day. Feel much better if I get one.

I started at 25 mg and slept maybe 4 hours a night now up to 150mg I take 2 antihistamines about 30 mins before I am ready for bed and can sleep 7 hour. I love my lamictal I am on it for bipolar with manic depression it has worked wonders
To your comment, it is now 2 years for me and sleeping rhythm has not changed. Ambien helps me fall asleep somewhat. I am now taking Melatonin. Some nights I sleep past 4am but only if I am tired physically can I go back to sleep. I still do not like this, but having no petit mal makes it worthwhile.
I have been on Lamictal 150mg for a few months now. I also take Effexor, amitriptyline, and Abilify. I have no trouble falling, or staying asleep, but I’m sure that’s because of the amitriptyline. I still feel groggy when I wake up, even after going to bed at 8:00 pm and waking up at 6:30 am. Does this ever stop? I yawn all day. I take the Effexor at 8:00 am and 2:00 pm and Was told it will energize me through the day. In fact, doc said don’t take past 4:00 pm or I won’t be able to sleep. But, sleep is not my problem at all. It’s the daytime sleepiness and overall blah feeling. It’s been 3-4 months now. I don’t believe it will get any better at this point, which makes me physically and emotionally depressed.
