A ganglion cyst is a sac filled with a jellylike fluid that originates from a tendon sheath or joint capsule. The word “ganglion” means “knot” and is used to describe the knot-like mass or lump that forms below the surface of the skin.
Often special shoes or pads need to be used to relieve the pressure from the cyst.
If the cyst persists, aspiration may be performed. The fluid from the cyst is drained, and a steroid medication is injected into the lump to help reduce inflammation.
Surgery to remove the cyst is a last resort.
You could try the Voltaren gel. It may help relieve the pain but is not a typical treatment.
